When I think about fine dining, I never dreamed it would be in a non-hotel based restaurant! Upon entering oitom, which means black in sabahan native language... it feels like I’m entering the dark side and that made me a little more cautious but the lightings were superbly placed that it focuses on the cooking arena and the food that is served at your table. I absolutely loved it that they used local ingredients to produce fantastic dishes that brings out every essence of its flavours plus by sourcing locally it is helping the local farmers/suppliers. Two thumbs up for that! The best part about my experience at oitom was I get to learn about every dish that is served and the chefs Juan & Raphael (owner) were such a delight and insightful when answering even the simplest questions. If I had to choose one out of my 9 course meal, my favourite for the night would have to be the chocolate tart but I absolutely loved their take on the cracker with cheese dip! Looking forward to their next menu.. thanks for a lovely start to my 2020 and a great celebration of my birthday month! Also for being flexible in my diet requirements too.
Note that it is a set menu and requires table reservation which can be made via their website and you’ll need to put a deposit to secure your reservation.
