The geography is ultimately why we go to Salima. And on this front Livingstonia doesn't disappoint. It's made better by the layout and amience of the resort.
It's organic, quaint and rustic while being modern well appointed.
The staff can't do enough for you.
The manager really leads from the front and is always a present face checking on the wellbeing of guests.
The food has greatly improved over the years too.
When one considers the cost of most competitor resorts along the lakeshore, I believe Livingstonia strikes aa great balance of luxury and value for money.
It is a must-go-to spot for the Central and Southern lakeshore region of Malawi.

Visited this place on day trip to see Lake Malawi for lunch and to use the pool. This resort allows non guests to eat lunch at the restaurant, which was very affordable, and use the pool for 2000 kwatcha a person. Our lunch was good and the pool is huge and clean. The restrooms and changing rooms were adequate and towels were provided. The beach was clean and offers beautiful views of the lake. The grounds looked nice and well kept, but I did not see the rooms or stay at this resort overnight.

This is a nicely built hotel in front of Lake Malawi. The facilities are nice and the beach is well kept. The food needs improvement. In addition, the electricity constantly goes off which makes it unbearable at night, specially if there are mosquitoes in your room which is normally the case. The rooms are nicely designed and well kept. Overall, it is a nice hotel but you will have to put up with the inconveniences from the area.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are similar which does not give much of a choice.

There are photos of this hotel from the 1930's in the lobby. It is a classic old hotel that harkens back to a different era. True, it could benefit from some upgrades, but it has a shabby elegance that we liked. The view of the lake is beautiful and the beach is very well maintained.

We stayed just one night after leavinf Lilongwe and treated ourselves to a superior room that had steps down to the beach - it was huge

It is probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in - Can recommend the fish curry for supper and go and have a beer at the bar further down the beach -
There is a large spotless swimming pool and the staff were all very friendly - only suggestion is put a little milk in the fridge in the room - coffee and tea is so much nicer without the horrid powdered creamer

Room Tip: treat yourself to a superior room on the beach they are huge
