My boyfriend and I just completed a Tanzania trip where we stayed at the Four points one day prior to and two days after our safari. The property itself is beautiful; a lush garden, nice gym overlooking the pool and ample seating in the lobby and restaurant area. I’d say this is the only hotel of its class in the area.
I booked both of my stays with points( good point to dollar value IMO) and as a platinum member we were automatically upgraded to a suite on our first night, it was simple but spacious. However, on the second stay we were not upgraded despite a nearly desolate hotel. I noticed that they also do not utilize any of the additional wings of the hotel besides those directly near the lobby- a shame as I imagine the gardens would be a slightly better view. In addition to no upgrade given, there is no lounge, no happy hour and breakfast was not included because I booked with points; in my past experiences breakfast has been included regardless but that may have just been good fortune on my behalf. I would say that the lack of perks are my only negatives about the experience.
Some other things to note:
The hotel allowed us to store an extra bag while on safari ( filled with our post safari Zanzibar attire) which was nice.
The breakfast is a set rate regardless if you just have a small peck or a full meal (20$ USD). On our last day we adventured to “Africafe” just half a block outside the hotel and it was so lovely if you are looking to change things up. However, be warned that this isn’t so much a lovely walkable place, people will try and see you things the second you leave the hotel, as they do most other places in the region.
