We so enjoyed our stay here at the beginning and end of our Tanzanian safari! The staff was incredibly kind and we enjoyed chatting with the manager about his experiences. The cuisine is largely Indian, which we enjoyed. Lovely poolside seating and the rooms were clean, elegant, and delightfully safari-themed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The African Tulip is a lovely boutique hotel in Arusha. We stayed for 2 nights before embarking on a 2-week safari. Staying there just 36 hours, we never left the property! It is peaceful, pretty with many traditional African artifacts throughout; interesting architecture and details, not a standard hotel. The staff is welcoming and accommodates all of your needs. Meals are good - cozy bar & living area for daytime reading or en evening cocktail. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with large window seats - I recommend the rooms to the back of the hotel that overlook the lush pool area.

Room tip: Back of the hotel rooms overlook pool area with plantings - very quiet.

Located in central Arusha this classy African chic hotel is a lovely respite before or after a Safari. Located right next door and affiliated with Roy Safaris.
The common rooms of the hotel are spacious and beautifully decorated in an elegant African colonial motif.
Rooms are equally spacious and decorated. The bed is 2 twins put together to make a king. The room is also furnished with a desk area and a comfortable window seat. The bathroom is also spacious but a bit dated. The shower/tub combo has an awkward shower head with low water pressure. Amenities include a water cooler - a very nice touch - a coffee and tea service with hot water out of the water cooler, a safe and a good wifi connection.
Meals are served in their Baobab Restaurant. The menu offers a limited selection of international classics - beef filet, chicken dishes, pork chops and pasta dishes - as well as a good selection of Indian dishes. Over all the food quality is above average but not outstanding.
Service is friendly and eager to please, though with occupancy way down because of the pandemic they hover around the table and ask a little too often how the meal is.

Very nice hotel with lovely landscaping, & a welcoming lobby & sitting areas. There’s a small but interesting gift shop & a beautiful pool with outside seating. Our room was large & overlooked the back gardens & pool. The restaurant was good, with many options & the staff were friendly & helpful.

We spent 2 nights at the African Tulip while awaiting our safari. Gorgeous room, very clean with a lovely balcony. We had breakfast and dinner there daily and the food was very good. I am a vegetarian and they accommodated me nicely. Excellent location to walk downtown--we enjoyed the Boma Museum and taking in the authentic vibe of Arusha. The "fly catchers" trying to sell you things is a bit annoying, but people just trying to make a living. Only complaint was that the pool at the Tulip was not skimmed and cleaned very well---we were not even comfortable dipping our feet into it on the pool's edge. Mentioned it to staff but nothing changed. Staff spoke English beautifully which made communication easy!

Room tip: Probably one of the nicest, most authentic hotels in Arusha for pre/post safari
