We just arrived at Arusha Safari Lodge and honestly we were really disappointed.

Pros :

The swimming pool is nice but cold at that time of the year

The staff tries really hard to help you

Bed and food is ok

Cons :

Rooms are less than average
Concrete floor not well cleaned
Dust everywhere
Worn out walls
No hot water to shower
Very limited comfort
No slippers nor shampoo provided by the hotel (we asked the receptionist and she brought us some shampoo from nowhere in a toothbrush holder)
She also suggested that we bought some slippers at 7$ and then she gave us a pair full of dust and which looked really worn out.
Dirty spots on the toilet seat

(Photos attached)

Anyway we won't recommend.

Pleasant enough pre or post safari spot. A dozen or so separate bungalows around a cold but swimmable. Some quirks like flickering interior lights and concrete floors. Instant coffee! Staff tries hard. Big problem though is proximity to mosque with loudspeaker call to prayer at ungodly times. 5:30 am and again 6:30!!!they go for 5-10!mins although seems longer. I know they can’t do anything about it but in fairness they should warn before booking.

Our trip may have been tainted by a late (2am) arrival and an 8am departure but for something described as “for the discerning traveller”, it didn’t really meet that criteria for us. Breakfast was very disappointing. Accommodation was average at best. And it was such a long drive (almost an hour and a half from Kilimanjaro airport) at that time of night that it simply wasn’t worth it. It may be different if you get to enjoy the pool, etc, but as a mere stopover it did not live up to expectations.

We came in late to the Arusha Safari Lodge after a long flight down from Amsterdam but the staff were still available and provide a nice dinner before we retired to our clean and adorable room. In the morning we walked around before breakfast and enjoyed the immaculately maintained grounds.

Friends had recommended this place as it's beautiful and has a nice pool. They have a 20,000tzs 3 course lunch and a swim is included. Which is really reasonable.
Me and a friend went last Sunday. We get charged 50,000tzs each for a 2 course lunch (salad and a small main), then an extra 10,000tzs for a swim!
We would have recommended Arusha Safari Lodge to lots of people as we live here. We won't now however as we felt we got completely ripped off!
