“loved the story about Zaccheus and his faith in Jesus...”
Review of Zaccheus' Tree

Zaccheus' Tree
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

but this tree, said to the the oldest sycamore tree in the world, is not really much of an attraction. Our guide was not particularly thrilled in pointing the tree out to us and even said we didn't need to go down from the bus as parking was a challenge. So we just craned our necks over a sea of cars parked around the garden where the tree was planted as the bus made a lighting stop.

And I don't think it was the exact same tree mentioned in the Bible. Still, I marveled at the fact that I was in Jericho, the oldest occupied city in all of human history - incredible!

As for the tree, it was nice to be reminded of the story. As a reminder for us, then yes, it serves its purpose.

The Book of Luke tells the story of Zacchaeus, who climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus as he entered the city of Jericho. Supposedly this is the tree described in the Scriptures. Even if not, some have claimed that this Jericho tree is the oldest existing sycamore in the world.

Our tour did a by the way stop here and we only had 5 minutes but still it was very worth it as it gave us an idea of the story of Zacchaeus and what it would have been like. I had never seen a Sycamore tree before so it was interesting. There were a few paddlers selling dates by the roadside - it was cheap!
