The only attraction is that it's oldest monastery of Ladakh. Temples have 1000 year old paintings on the inside walls but are so poorly lit that paintings are not properly visible

Outstanding Landscape. did not know that the sandy hills are actually of Multani mitti; would have got some back with me!
one of the oldest monastries and its wall paintings are simply breathtaking. Dont miss to visit this wonderful monastery.

No real views. It is an old monastery but there is not much to really take in. They have these small temples out there with old frescoes which are dark inside and nothing described. Most other monasteries atleast have an appealing outer structure or view which is missing here

On our way from ULE to Leh we visited the Alchi monastery about 1000years old. It has six temples which have religious scripture.
Photography is not allowed in most parts in this monastery.
