This is an old-fashioned luncheonette like I remember from early childhood - it even smells the same, which really triggers a positive response with me. However, the last three times we visited, the service was so poor I cannot recommend. We sat outside and waited so long for just menus that I ended up walking inside and getting them myself. No apology from anyone. Every step of the service was painful, from long delays in ordering, to no coffee until food arrived, to no silverware once we finally got food, to a 20-minute wait for the check. In all, breakfast - which should take 30 minutes for 2 people, tops - took nearly 2 hours. If this was a unique event I could forgive it, but it was like this the last three visits. We keep wanting to try again, we want to like this likable place, but nothing is worth getting so aggravated. PS: I posted a similar review on Yelp, and the owner emailed me her profound apologies. She offered to send me a gift certificate for a free breakfast for our trouble, which I thought was very nice. THE GIFT CERTIFICATE NEVER CAME. Not good.
