This place is fabulous.
The staff gets to know you by name and greets you with, "welcome home" each time you walk through the door. As a solo traveler, that makes a difference. Especially since I might have been the only solo at the property.
The restaurant is excellent. I didn't expect much since it was included in the room rate. Ypu know what I mean. But they outdid themselves. The fried rice with salmon and egg is the bomb. And the mini buffet has loads of fresh fruit, cereal, cheese, juice and bread. I shied away from the fruit at first, but took a risk on the watermelon and passion fruit with no side effects, if you know what I mean...
And the rest of the menu was equally delicious. You won't regret trying the turmeric crepes. Outstanding.
The rooms and balconies are perfect. The detail of every accessory is cool... from the orange accents that are the same shade of a monk's robes (yes, I noticed) to the (somewhat overpowering flowery) aromatherapy in the bathroom to the pottery pieces that serve the purpose of holding fruit, towels and the blow dryer... and everything in between. I just wish the curtains were an inch longer so the sun didn't peek through. Easily solved with a mask.
The pool area is nice as well. I thought the pics looked a little iffy since the loungers are on grass...but that turned out to be really nice, actually. Especially since I live in NYC where I don't have many opportunities to walk barefoot in grass. And, get this, they brought out ice cream cones as a nice little surprise on one of the days I was out there. Nice touch!
The art, fountains and sculpture throughout the property are really beautiful. No detail was overlooked. I chose this hotel after reading about the cred of the architect-designer and wasn't disappointed in the least. I even took the time to check out the sister property he designed across the street and was equally impressed.
There are many more places to travel, but if (when) I make I back to Siem Reap, I'll definitely want to stay here again.
