Whilst I am an avid reviewer of hotels, it's very rare that I post a restaurant review on Tripadvisor, if you are not careful you could spend so much time posting and ultimately a poor restaurant experience isn't generally going to impact your holiday as much as a poor hotel. However, when I find a restaurant I believe is exceptional I do take the time to share my experience.
We were staying at the Heritage Suites Hotel, so walking distance to Marum, I had heard of several training restaurants but given location went for the easy option. We did book a table as we preferred to sit outside in the beautiful garden setting. It was very busy when we arrived, there seemed to be a lot of medium to large groups so I am not sure if small tour companies use it, it was also a couple of days before the half marathon which probably added to how busy it was. We did have a challenge with the table as there wasn't one available outside when we arrived, it seemed to be just a timing thing given the large groups and we had a drink inside whilst we waited for our table to become free which didn't take long.
It's a credit to the staff and the teachers that whilst this is billed as a training restaurant I don't think you would have necessarily realised that had it not been advertised.
There are lots of dishes to choose from and they are designed to share almost tapas style, but not matter how lovely the setting or service it's the food that really made it, some of the combinations and flavours were incredible. The two dishes I would pull out in particular are Rice Paper Rolls with pepper, goats cheese & tamarind chilli dip and the prawn & Pork Prah-hok, you dip the crispy rice into the sauce which is amazing and of course you have to try the beef with red ants!
