Description: Marum features a winning mix of creative local cuisine, and is named after the Moringa, or 'Tree of life' - very appropriate, as customers will be enjoying a fantastic dining experience that helps build a new life for the students in training there!

I organised a birthday party of (40) people in March. Marum did an exceptional job in helping me organizing and provided my guests with the best party ever :) Food was fantastic and the birthday chilli chocolate cake awesome. Some of my guests were locals who had never been here and are certain to return. We look forward to also returning and drinking more chilli pineapple margarita's and partaking in our favorite foods of Slow Cooked Khmer Style Pork Ribs with Apple & Radish Salad, Taro, Chive & Shiitake Dumplings with Citrus Ginger Soy - and so many more dishes!

Whilst I am an avid reviewer of hotels, it's very rare that I post a restaurant review on Tripadvisor, if you are not careful you could spend so much time posting and ultimately a poor restaurant experience isn't generally going to impact your holiday as much as a poor hotel. However, when I find a restaurant I believe is exceptional I do take the time to share my experience.

We were staying at the Heritage Suites Hotel, so walking distance to Marum, I had heard of several training restaurants but given location went for the easy option. We did book a table as we preferred to sit outside in the beautiful garden setting. It was very busy when we arrived, there seemed to be a lot of medium to large groups so I am not sure if small tour companies use it, it was also a couple of days before the half marathon which probably added to how busy it was. We did have a challenge with the table as there wasn't one available outside when we arrived, it seemed to be just a timing thing given the large groups and we had a drink inside whilst we waited for our table to become free which didn't take long.

It's a credit to the staff and the teachers that whilst this is billed as a training restaurant I don't think you would have necessarily realised that had it not been advertised.

There are lots of dishes to choose from and they are designed to share almost tapas style, but not matter how lovely the setting or service it's the food that really made it, some of the combinations and flavours were incredible. The two dishes I would pull out in particular are Rice Paper Rolls with pepper, goats cheese & tamarind chilli dip and the prawn & Pork Prah-hok, you dip the crispy rice into the sauce which is amazing and of course you have to try the beef with red ants!

Hi dentonsdestinations,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on here especially one that's not a hotel review!

We're so happy to hear that you had a great time and enjoyed all the dishes you ordered. Mmm...

We hope you enjoyed your time in Siem Reap!

Cheers,
The Marum Team

The portions are very small, which is expected because it's tapas, but it was very, very pricey. The mushroom and brie fried rice balls were not great--neither was the tofu noodle salad. The Red Ants Beef Stir-Fry is absolutely delicious. That's definitely a must for all meat-lovers and daring eaters.

Hi Teresa M,

Thanks for sharing your dining experience with us.

Our menu is a sharing style menu so all our plates are 'tapas-style'. We will be sharing your feedback on the Wild Mushroom and Brie Rice Balls and Crispy Noodle Salad with Tofu and Sweet Potato Spring Rolls as it's such a shame to hear you didn't enjoy them as much as we do.

Glad to hear you loved the Red Tree Ant and Beef Stir Fry though!

Thank you again, we really appreciate it.

Cheers,
The Marum Team

I came here with my mom and it was just fantastic. We loved the idea of the restaurant being a teaching place, and it's cool that the staff all wear tshirts with "teacher" or "student" on them. It was really nice to see how hard the students worked to give us a great experience! The food was also terrific, especially the risotto and mushroom arancini with beet root mayonnaise. Definitely recommend this place!
