This extraordinary museum was a unique experience i recommend highly!
It feels like you are entering a time capsule and there is a lot of cool stuff to see and really interesting information and stories!
The museum is built in an immersing way and you can walk around by yourself and listen to the audio guide. The history is very intresting and gives a wider perspective and understanding of sofia.
I enjoyed this very much.
Also they are the nicest people they open the museum just for me and i really appreciated that.
To summarize- this is so cool you should definitely visit

The visit to the Red Flat was an out of the box experience. The flat is preserved to communist times with impressive details (including a common era snack one receives as part of the self tour). The audio-guid is very detailed and interesting. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend a visit!

The real life and living of a Bulgarian family during communist times on view (and interactive) at The Red Flat is probably the most tangible and insightful experience a western visitor can find in Sofia...that is open to the public, anyway. The staff, some too young to remember the reality of life then, are knowledgeable nonetheless; they're pleasant, helpful and English-speaking.

I am Bulgarian and I was born in 1989. For me the Red flat felt like home, meaning it was really authentic and precise. I loved the recordings, the little treats guests would find, and the general idea. The Red flat is a great experience for Bulgarians and foreigners alike.

This was definitely one of the most interesting and “different” museums that I have ever visited! Well, I would actually say “experienced”, because this is what this is. An experience. It was very interesting entering the flat and spending some time inside, it truly feels like a time machine that takes you back in time to the 1980s. The audio guide is very well done, where all of it is very well explained, and it is great that you can touch/smell/feel all that is in the flat (the books, the chairs, the toys..)

I definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning more about how it was back then, and who wants to experience something completely different.

Kalina, the tour guide that accompanied us to the flat, was super nice and helpful. After my visit, she even offered me more advice on what to do/where to visit during my stay in Sofia, and she was kind enough to chat with me for a while answering my questions :) Thank you so much Kaline!
