I was on an Intrepid tour of Peru and was in Ollantaytambo at the start of the Inca trail and to see the Inca ruins in Ollantaytambo itself.
Our guide, Cris, suggested this restaurant for dinner, as it was close to the hotel and contributed to an Intrepid funded project.
At first I was confused when I came home and then went to write this review. I had recorded the name of the restaurant in my diary but the outside of the restaurant as shown in TripAdvisor reviewers' photos didn't match my recollection of it. So I contacted my guide, Cris, and she advised that Mijunapaq has moved into the building which the restaurant Mayupata (also on TripAdvisor) used to occupy. I don't know if Mayupata is still around in Ollantaytambo but in different premises.
Anyway - sure I have the right restaurant for this review - Mijunapaq. I went there with 2 others from the tour.
We had Pisco sours and some local beers, but the management also gave us free Pisco passionfruit sours and some shots too. The service was great!
I had the alpaca, which was pretty good.
A good meal and a fun night. The restaurant supports Intrepid's charity fund too. Deserving of your business.
