We stayed in two different rooms during our time in Singapore, and both were clean and functional, but showed some signs of age. The service was good. One room had a tub/shower, and the other had the shower in the middle of the bathroom between the sink and the toilet which did make it difficult to keep things from getting wet. But they both had good hot water and drains and toilets worked fine. Housekeeping brought two bottles of water everyday and the rooms had a hot water kettle for tea. The rooms were small, but not unexpectedly so, and the beds and A/C were fine in both rooms. The WiFi is free and fast. There is a laundromat directly across the street if needed. Buses are about a 10 minute walk, and the MRT is about 15-20 minutes walk to Eunos station. There are many affordable restaurants in all directions - and using public transport, you can easily get to more choices. We bought the transit cards that the locals use. There is a tourist pass that might work for you, but the included items weren't worth the cost. The system works similar to Japan where you scan your card in and out at the turnstiles and bus and add money at the machines at stations.
