As part of a private tour we stayed here for 3 nights. Our tour company was supposed to only book us in hotels where the staff spoke some english, but nomone here did. This became an issue when our guide left and we were on our own. The hotels rooms were decent and had a lot of room but the beds were the hardest we slept on during our 3 weeks in China. Also, it was pretty warm in Lhasa while we were there but the hotel doesn't have A/C, which made it even tougher to sleep. We noticed a lot of tour groups staying here and met some other frustrated like usnabout the A/C and no English in the lobby. The food at the hotel was the worst of our trip as well, leaving us to only eat French fries for dinner. We aren't picky eaters requiring 5 star meals. This stuff was just bad. They did also have a separate Chinese restaurant but we didnt try that, in all fairness, since we were eating tibetan food during the days out touring around. Finally, the hotel is kinda far from the main part of town so there's not much to walk to, especially when we wanted to have dinner somewhere else. Overall, if you are a westerner, steer clear of the Minzu. It's more catered to Chinese tourists and is really a 2.5-3 star hotel with a 5 star...More
