Over all, Yum Cha was a nice busy place, bright atmosphere, with a lot of interesting yummy dishes, and perfect for our late lunch.
We had a little difficulty finding the place as the only info we had was Granville road and a dot on google maps, but by asking around we found it on the upper floor of a hotel building, Attitude on Granville, beside a big Nike store.
There was a long waiting queue, and while the receptionist girl eventually said we were 3rd on the queue and on the list, she let in at least 6 other groups after that, some who came after us, before finally seating us. The place did not accept reservations, and while we were a group of 5, but she was able to seat groups of 4,8,6 etc. before us. As we did not speak the dialect, we could not understand the reason why she was seating late comers ahead of us. When you're on a short trip, a 45 minute wait with late comers being seated ahead of your group can be disquieting.
Setting that aside, the meal itself was very enjoyable. There were many interesting dishes to choose from, and the ones we chose were all delicious. A bit pricey but worth it. The orders themselves were served quickly enough and hot. Over-all, I would still recommend friends try the place for the food.

“Modern Dim Yum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

They add a twist to the traditional dim sum through presentation or different ingredients. It is a good place for young people. For those looking for the traditional Dim Yum, I would suggest to try the old favourites.

“Late lunch”

The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor but the sign is not visible from street level. Google map was helpful in locating the building/area but you must enter the building in able to see the sign for the restaurant.

We arrived at 2pm and was promptly seated. Unlike USA dim sum places, you place your order with the staff instead of choosing from roving carts. We made the mistake of ordering all of our dishes all at once. Those in the know order one or two dishes at a time so they can enjoy it food hot/warm. You can stay past closing time and finish eating. The staff does not rush you to get out.

I recommend the roast pork buns (char sui bao) and the sesame wings.
