“Bless their hearts”
Reviewed 18 September 2016

We were given mobile phones from our hotel and this was one of the advertisements that flashed up, we were looking for vegetarian options and this restaurant advertised themselves as one.

Ambiance is fairly sub-par, it's small and reminded me of a Disney knock-off of a Middle Eastern exhibit. The menu was very expensive for Hong Kong prices and for what we got.

We started with a kale salad which was about 2 pieces of kale that was doused with olive oil, two pieces of tomato and some avocado. We ordered a manakeesh which resembled the cheapest frozen pizza crust your money could buy and baked-to-a-crisp cheese. We finished with a truffle mac and cheese, I have never had mac and cheese that was not redeeming in one way or another - this dish was impressive in the sense that it truly failed. The mac and cheese was watery and lacked flavor.

The good thing was the service, they really made an effort to ask about our experience and were concerned that we did not finish our dishes. Perhaps we ordered the worse things on their menus, the place did seem to fill up so I imagine there has to be something good and based on the ratings it appears people like it.

“Was good once - not now”
Reviewed 22 August 2016

Used to be Vegetarian, but they sell anything now, so they have no claim to be anything special. Prices are too high for a standard restaurant in ETST - this is not fine dining !!! Have been a number of times and the food is usually OK, but the service is terrible. I remember last time that customers in one section had to come out and ask for service because no staff member was looking around to see if anyone was asking for attention. Also for such simple dishes, it seems to takes ages for them to come from the kitchen. Would recommend them after our first visit, but each subsequent visit they have gone downhill. Doubt there will be another visit ....

“Dinner thyme!”
Reviewed 1 August 2016 via mobile

I've been here with some friend for an informal dinner. We where looking for a "Lebanese cusine" there is more modern Mediterranean cusine they said! The menu and food is ok! But nothing special honestly!! Very difficult to find the restaurant location even with the GPS.....

“"Mediterranean in the Hart of Kowloon"”
Reviewed 31 July 2016 via mobile

A few things to consider about Wild Thyme before you take the trip through the back streets of the bar district in TST.

1. It is hard to find. Well, actually, if you look at the street numbers and use Google Maps, it's exactly where it should be, but as locals who knew much better, it took us a while.

2. It's not cheap, depending on your definition of cheap. If you're a fine foodie, Wild Thyme is great value, but if you're comparing it to street food in downtown Beirut or Istanbul, no, it's not. But then if that's what you want, Istanbul Express in all it's glory is 2 doors down.

3. The food is seriously good, and I mean seriously. We over bought to get a taste of as much as we could fit in, and every dish was a winner. From the chilli hummus (spicy, mmmm...), through grilled haloumi, to lamb kofte, fish, rice and lentils, and finally baklava, it was perfect.

The pace of the service was measured, the service itself attentive without being overpowering, decor wasn't your normal HK attempt at Middle Eastern, the background music had a nice chill vibe, and the wines by the glass were excellent, as was the Lebanese Pale Ale (a first for me, and certainly not the last).

Big tick to front of house Tweety, who took the time to explain the dishes and the chef's approach to food. We'll be back, and we'll see you all there.
