“Was good once - not now”

Used to be Vegetarian, but they sell anything now, so they have no claim to be anything special. Prices are too high for a standard restaurant in ETST - this is not fine dining !!! Have been a number of times and the food is usually OK, but the service is terrible. I remember last time that customers in one section had to come out and ask for service because no staff member was looking around to see if anyone was asking for attention. Also for such simple dishes, it seems to takes ages for them to come from the kitchen. Would recommend them after our first visit, but each subsequent visit they have gone downhill. Doubt there will be another visit ....

“Dinner thyme!”
Reviewed 1 August 2016 via mobile

I've been here with some friend for an informal dinner. We where looking for a "Lebanese cusine" there is more modern Mediterranean cusine they said! The menu and food is ok! But nothing special honestly!! Very difficult to find the restaurant location even with the GPS.....

“"Mediterranean in the Hart of Kowloon"”

A few things to consider about Wild Thyme before you take the trip through the back streets of the bar district in TST.

1. It is hard to find. Well, actually, if you look at the street numbers and use Google Maps, it's exactly where it should be, but as locals who knew much better, it took us a while.

2. It's not cheap, depending on your definition of cheap. If you're a fine foodie, Wild Thyme is great value, but if you're comparing it to street food in downtown Beirut or Istanbul, no, it's not. But then if that's what you want, Istanbul Express in all it's glory is 2 doors down.

3. The food is seriously good, and I mean seriously. We over bought to get a taste of as much as we could fit in, and every dish was a winner. From the chilli hummus (spicy, mmmm...), through grilled haloumi, to lamb kofte, fish, rice and lentils, and finally baklava, it was perfect.

The pace of the service was measured, the service itself attentive without being overpowering, decor wasn't your normal HK attempt at Middle Eastern, the background music had a nice chill vibe, and the wines by the glass were excellent, as was the Lebanese Pale Ale (a first for me, and certainly not the last).

Big tick to front of house Tweety, who took the time to explain the dishes and the chef's approach to food. We'll be back, and we'll see you all there.

“Worst food I ever tasted. I was ill for two days.”
Reviewed 22 July 2016

I went to this resturaunt last night. Got table without booking. Was quiet. Dishes were way overpriced, three times more then London prices. Vegetarian food was not properly cooked, tasteless and the quality was worse then cheapest supermarkets quality. I got bland food despite I asked for garlick and spices.
I mean a side dish of humous, which had no lemon, nor garlick was 90 Hong Kong dollars then the bowl was only half full. Good as it tasted bad.
I ended up paying over 500 dollars for one main dish and 2 starters. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

“Over-priced!!”
Reviewed 17 July 2016

I went for dinner to this restaurant the other day with my two teenage kids and husband. Saturday night, but it was very quiet. We could get a table without a reservation although we did book online. Friendly and polite staff, but food was way too pricey and portions were ridiculously tiny. Our bill came to over a 1000$ and this without any alcohol or drinks except for one bottle of still water. Each Pita bread, (one tiny small less than 4inch diameter) was 12$ and with each small tiny portion of dip, they serve one small pita bread. The food tasted good, so no complaints on that front. But would I pay that price for it again, NO WAY!! Lots of choices for the vegetarian but except for the tabbouleh, all other portions for unfairly small for their price. The Baklava was served very fancy, but 8-9 tiny tiny pieces cut up and arranged stylishly on the plate, is not what one expects. I have eaten better Mediterranean food and paid much less for it elsewhere in Hong Kong, so sadly, I would not recommend this to anyone except those to whom money is no consequence.
