Owner description: Located at the iconic Central Harbourfront, the Hong Kong Observation Wheel offers spectacular day and night views of Hong Kong’s famous skyline and much more. Our ferris wheel rides are priced at just HK$20; as we want to make the experience affordable for all to enjoy. Online reservation is also available to ensure a smoother experience. With just a quick stroll from the Central/Hong Kong MTR Station and Central Ferry Piers, you will not only be greeted by our Ferris wheel, but also an open lawn, yummy snacks and free healthy initiatives at our wellness-themed park: AIA Vitality Park. The AIA Vitality Park hosts a variety of classes and events including fitness classes, yoga, kickboxing, swing dancing and even Capoeira. We will continue to introduce new elements to this iconic landmark including a Classic Carousel and Super Giant Slide which are now open to public.

The position of the wheel was excellent, easy to get to by foot from MTR, bus or cab and just next to Star Ferry in front of IFC. Excellent views of HK Island high-rises, Wanchai convention centre and ICC, TST across Kowloon. At HK$100 per adult & $70 per child over 3 it wasn't cheap but it was well worth the money as we went around 4 times and the speed was slow enough for decent pictures. First round you're too excited looking everywhere, second round is good photo op, third you get a better shot of what you missed on the second round and final round you just sit and enjoy!!
Each car seats 8 but since there wasn't a long queue, almost every couple/ family/ group had their own car without having to share with strangers. And because it's only a few months old it is still very new and clean. It's air- conditioned and the doors are glass too so it's very good for photos all around. The glass is spotless and the staff checks the cabins when you alight, cleaning it if necessary. Unlike some of the Ferris Wheels we've been which rotates even as you get on/ off this one stops completely so it's safe. Families with small children, strollers and those on wheelchairs are assisted by courteous staff which there were plenty of.

Have been past the new observation wheel a few times, so decided to give it a go.

The best time is early evening so bought tickets and queued up, the wait was not to bad and the ride well worth it. Once on the wheel you go round about 3 or 4 times and the view over HongKong and Kowloon are spectacular.

A really great addition to the waterfront and well worth a visit

£10 per person to go round 4 times and worth every penny. Got on at 8pm with 5 min waiting time and had a cabin to ourselves. It you want a fantastic view of the harbour and surrounding buildings do this!!

The Hong Kong Observation Wheel (HK$100 per adult, HK$70 per child) opened late last autumn at the new Central Waterfront and has taken rather mixed responses since that time.

In some ways we have found it a nice little addition to the recently developed waterfront area. Yet, we also feel that it fails to excite compared to the taller, more impressive rides you can take in cities like London and Singapore.

One of the nice things about the HK Observation Wheel is that we don't find much in the form of queues there during much of the day. As such, if you are planning to visit the waterfront area, you will probably not wait more than 5-10 minutes during normal days and weekends for a ride. We also like the views, which are better at night as you are less impacted by poor sky conditions and the buildings are more impressive to look at in darkness.

What we don't like so much about the Hong Kong Observation Wheel is how often it seems to stop. While not such a big deal in the end, it would have been better if this operated more like the London Eye where you have continuous, uninterrupted movement. Oh well.

In the end there is no doubt the Hong Kong Observation Wheel is fun but its not a world class ride nor will it likely become a major attraction in the city. It is just something worth trying if you really enjoy ferris wheels and plan to spend some time on the HK waterfront area.
