What a great ride, about 20-30 minutes as I recall. Spectacular views over water, past the airport up and down considerable hills. We didn’t regret for one second deciding to take the return trip.

Didn't have a hard time locating the place even if it was our first time in hongkong. Went straight to Ngong pin from the airport. The queue wasn't that long since we arrived at 10am on a Wednesday! We're lucky!
We chose roundteip, regular and the glass cabins. It was truly spectacular even if it was gloomy- why? We enjoyed the fog and the the thrill of zero visibility all around us!
When we reached Lantau island, well, we didn't get to finish the tour but I wish we did. It was all touristy, really. Food shops and souvenir shops all over. Plus the ref magnets are a bit too pricy!
The experience was worth the price we paid!

You can reach this via MTR. It is the island where the Airport is. Enjoy 360 degrees view via the Cable Car.

The cable car ride was amazing, however, I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the crystal cabin as the novelty wore off pretty quick when all you see are tree tops, the view is better looking out a far.

Once we arrived at the village to was pretty clear this is just about making money, shops, shops and food outlets. Very disappointing.

Don't go if storms are forecasted. A thunderstorm came while we were there and of course for safety reasons the cable car had to be shut down. No problems, that's a safe option. However, after lining up with a thousand other people in the heat we were finally told they would take us back down the mountain in buses, so moved to a bus line. 2 hours later we were still waiting in line with a thousand other people. I never did see a bus, but they did tell us they had ONE bus organised. When the thunderstorm stopped they started the cable car again. Do you think they gave seating preference to those who had waited in line several hours? No, they didn't. We waited again. Very poorly organised and staff didn't know what was happening half the time either. It honestly ruined our day.

Arrived before 10:00am on a weekday and there was a small queue. Paid for the crystal bottomed car and the queue was much shorter that's for the regular car. Efficient queuing and boarding system and then a great ride out over the water and the mountains. They do snap your photo as you get on ad meet you with it when you get off.
Riding back again the queue for the glass bottomed cars was much shorter, got one to ourselves.
Even for those with vertigo, the Glassdoor bottomed car didn't 'seem a problem.
