It is an interesting neighbourhood to explore. From individual shops to street markets and old housing estate. However if you do come to this neighbourhood pls head towards Berwick Street and check out Garden Hill. It is really an easy walk up and the view is amazing no matter it is daytime, nighttime or sunset. Nearby there is also an UNESCO cultural heritage building called Mei Ho House.

Loved the place.

We really enjoyed visiting this neighbourhood in Hong Kong - it was a little grimier (and I say that in a good way) and had more of an authentic, less touristy feel to it. You can come here to shop, but we just wandered around the wet markets and also visited a few famous places to eat - Sun Hang Yuen (新香園 堅記) cha chaan teng for breakfast and Hop Yik Tai sells Cheong fun (rice noodle rolls) for a snack.

For shopping, each street in this neighbourhood specialises in different products. Apliu Street sells tech stuff (phone charges, cameras etc), Ki Lung Street sells buttons, Tai Nan street sells leather goods, Yu Chau Street sells beads and Nam Cheong Street sells ribbons. Worth a browse around, something for everyone!

Decided to step back in time and visit this part of Hong Kong. You need to take the MTR to Sham Shui Po station exit at B. You will be greeted by old buildings that are typically Hong Kong. There are lots of eateries there. Visited a market while I was there. An eye opener indeed. Nice to visit. I was early. Many stores weren’t open.

This will always be my favourite go to place in Hong Kong for those who like rummaging for bargains eating local food and buying fabric and all other crafting and seeing materials. There are no high end malls or restaurants.
This time the weather was terrible with a massive thunder storm which rather curtailed our walking but I still managed to get the Hawkers fabric bazaar next to the police station. You need to come here with a like minded person as you can spend hours wandering the cramped and crammed alleyways. I bought some more brocade for my collection!

Spent an hour or so hunting fabrics. There is so much to see and buy. Prices are cheap for fabrics. You really have to look. Found some great linens for a great price. Buttons galore! Ribbons! Even found some leather. A must see when in Hong Kong.
