We were very lucky to get a free room upgrade to their Club room on the 19th floor with a fantastic view of the bay and Hong Kong island. An added bonus - free mini bar.
Quite spacious room and bathroom;
Good breakfast (english, continental, local). Food is replenished quickly, but be quick to grab dim sums, pork buns and pork dumplings as they vanish almost immediately. Choose a table that is deeper inside, next to a window - it's quiet there and you can enjoy watching people bustling in the street whilst eating;
Good location. MTR and bus stops nearby, ferry terminal 15-20 min walking distance, Temple and Ladies market, local street food, shopping centres, park, museums, etc. Around the corner Michelin street food stall, english pub, etc.;
AC cannot be turned off completely, ours didn't even heat the room, just made it colder. So we had to leave a card in the slot so that the fans wouldn't automatically turn on after leaving the room;
No proper concierge, so nobody takes your bags for you to the room. But actually I find it more as a pro than con. Doorman appears at about 11 am and stays till 6 pm, at other ours you will have to open the door yourself :)
In short, our stay was good. The staff is quite business like, but that didn't bother me much. Rooms were cleaned daily, free mini bar also restocked daily. If your room wasn't cleaned or restocked properly, just make a call, they are very serious about that.

4 nights stay review

Room - Extremely small. We got ourselves a double twin room but the room is really small. There are stains on the carpet and was never removed.

Toilets - Be prepare to knock wall to wall into the cramped toilet when you bath. The water drainage system is really bad with water stuck as you bathed. One have to flush the toilet bowl almost 3 times before everything goes down.

Hotel Lobby check in is fast and quick. Most can speak and understand English. but expect no concerige service to open door for you when you lugged your big luggages.

Housekeeping - Is simple but dont expect much. We have the same bottle of small bottle toletries used over 4 days without any replenishment

Location is not as what everyone claimed very convenient.
You definitely need to walk a distance from Train to underground passage which take 7 mins and to walk out take another 10 mins,

Empire is in a great location, close to Nathan Rd, shops, restaurants, MTR, Ferry all within walking distance. Booked 5nts directly with hotel as (seemed) cheaper than HotelCombined options. Rooms are either Standard (level 1-16) or Empire Club (16 -24).

Positives: in reasonably good shape, good toiletries, nice bar/foyer, friendly staff, four elevators, free extras with Club rooms (daily newspaper, unlimited soft drinks/coffee/water and snacks at 2pm and 6.30pm. 5 english TV channels. Mobile wi-fi dongle is a great touch, and the hotel wi-fi was excellent.

Negatives: expensive for Club option, really not worth 20-30% extra. You are basically paying for a higher floor, and not necessarily a water view. Also includes free mini-bar but note this only includes 2 x beer, 3 x soft drink per day in room plus "snacks". Snacks received 2 x packets of peanuts across 5 nights. Rooms are quite small and with 2 bags is a little crowded even for a couple. NOTE - Empire Club does not include breakfast which is approx $30AUD/day each. Easier/cheaper to go downstairs and eat out.

Upon check-in (early 6am) we left our bags at reception and came back at 5pm as apparently no rooms available until 2pm check in time. First room L21 stunk of cigarettes. Asked to change and half an hour later and they sent a housekeeping lady up with some air freshener. 30 minutes later got a similar room on L19 which smelled better.

Staff were OK but don't communicate that well. First visit to Empire Club lounge was a bit odd. The didn't know what included drinks we were allowed to have and had to ask reception. Next day asked to make a call and despite giving my name, I was told that I wasn't staying in room 1901 (??). Anyway, we had a couple of visits to the Club lounge - food consists of spring rolls, fish cakes and satay sticks nightly, that's all and only beer and wine, not like other Club rooms that have a wide selection of food and cocktails.

Overall an OK stay but would look elsewhere for this price next time.

Room Tip: Above 17 are Empire club, mostly city views.

It is an old hotel but they have maintained it very well. We were fortunate to be upgraded to their Executive Floor where my room has separate bedroom and living room, thus very large. We managed to see the across to Hong Kong side but barely. There were too many buildings blocking a clear view.

If there is a complain, it has to be the size of the walk in shower. It is very cramped and showering inside this tiny space is a real challenge.

Checking in and out was very quick. The best part is the location. Everything is within walking distance, from restaurants, bars, shopping and MTR.
