I am about to review three Intercontinental properties: two in Hong Kong and one in Beijing. The two cities are obviously very different from each other; what surprised me was that the difference in the hotels was even greater than the difference between the two cities. More on that later...
This Intercontinental is magnificent in every way: location, service, executive lounge, fitness center -- the whole package! The only note of caution I would sound is to avoid this hotel around New Year's Eve. It sits in the heart of the prime viewing area for Hong Kong's famous display of fireworks, so many of the streets nearby (and even the underground crossings of those streets) are closed off and patrolled by very strict police forces. So it is very difficult to leave the hotel on foot (and impossible by car) for may hours before and after midnight on 12/31. And the level of noise generated by the revelry inside the hotel itself was almost unbearable.More
