I went to Beijing for 3 days and 2 nights and I stayed at the Puxuan hotel. I believe the hotel is just 1 year old, so pretty new. The first comment I would say is that it is a discrete hotel yet elegant, contemporary and not high building. Very well located, only few minutes walk from the famous shopping mall, forbidden city (15 min walk) and next door to the national art museum.
Still inside the hotel, you feel somewhere else completely... the whole atmosphere is very relaxing, the hotel has made different area where you can sit, enjoy a drink, work or just have a cigarette (I am a smoker...). There is also a tea house for those who want to experience a whole tea tasting! The service was excellent and not like the other hotels I could have been previously.
Very professional but at the same time friendly and helpful.
I stayed at room 701 and I highly recommend it !!! This is the kind of suite where you feel like home very quickly ! The view is amazing with the temple in the mountain, sunset and sunrise. This hotel is all about details and one of the details I liked was the lighting. They set up like 8 different lighting atmospheres depending on the mood you are so you don’t have to run after all the switch buttons everywhere. I also appreciated the bed notes to let you know the weather and temperatures for the next day. And I loved the heating pad placed in the bed so when going to sleep, you get into a warm bed... those are just littles details but they made my staying so good! One last detail is the mini bar that is complimentary and refill every day!
Out of the bedroom, one of my favorite place was the 8th floor where there is a “lounge”. Actually it is a mix between a library where you can relax, an open kitchen where you can have a quick bite all day long and an amazingly quiet terrasse where I went for smoking. Again the staff there was very nice and made everything possible to let you enjoy as you are supposed to!
I also experienced the two restaurants there. One is European style, called “Rive gauche” where I had lunch the first day. The chef made us the tasting menu and what can I say... it was fantastic ! The presentation, the taste, the flavors, everything was very good with a special mention for the pigeon dish (being one of my favorite dish)! One of the very interesting dessert is the goat cheese ice cream. I posted some pictures. This restaurant is also where I had my breakfast and you have a choice between European or Asian style, full of choice, very fresh, it was very good and everything you might need to start a beautiful day.
The second night I tried the Chinese restaurant “Fu Chun Ju” for dinner. We had a tasting menu with most of dishes to share on the round table, it was just perfect! It has been long time that I did not have such elegant and tasty Chinese dinner!! I posted some pictures as well but I would make a special mention to the crab dumpling (one of the best I ever had and I live in China for 13 years...). Special mention to the abalone with porc and red rice (kind of risotto) the abalone was so tender and the association with the juicy piece of porc is just genius, the duck with caviar, the mushroom soup, the grouper fish was also excellent... I stopped here cause we had around 10 dishes and honestly everything was excellent! Strongly recommend this place!
I will definitely go back to try the SPA as I unfortunately did not have the time to go there... the only inconvenient of this place is that you feel and you eat so well that you actually don’t want to leave the hotel !!! To me, luxury is more about an attitude and with the very professional service, the well thought details from furnitures, plates in both restaurants, lighting in the room, etc... but without being show-off, this hotel fits perfectly my definition of what true luxury is!
I highly recommend this hotel and I thank all the staff for the very good and friendly service! I had an amazing experience and will definitely come back !!
