I've staying here for a week and I can say that it is probably one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in (I'm quite picky though).
Dorms are old and messy, as there are lots of Chinese students staying for expended periods of time. Common area is a smoking area and the internet there is very slow. But the worst thing is the bathrooms, which are really dirty and boy are they stinky, always.
The good thing is the location, as all the major schools are nearby, and there's really not much choice in that area.

Me and my friends spent three weeks here while studying Chinese and sight-seeing in August 2012. Locating the hostel was a bit tricky at first but eventually we found out that it's pretty well located as far as Wudaokou hostels go - on the main road, 5-7 minute walk from the subway station, and a 15 minute walk from our school. As for sight-seeing the location is not ideal because it's at least a couple of subway rides from most interesting locations, but that's Wudaokou for you... and the Summer Palace, Old Summer Palace and Olympic Park are quite close (not a walking distance though). We stayed at two 2-bed rooms which were quite ok (no window, towels not changed every day and sheets changed only once during our three-week stay). Hostel offers laundry for 18RMB/barrel which was really convenient (as we found out later on the trip). WiFi access is not ideal in the rooms but the lobby and lounge are good for that. Hostel has a roughly equal number of Chinese and foreigners (including people who have been living there for months and even years). Staff is quite helpful and some even have decent English for China. Overall - a decent option if you're studying somewhere in Wudaokou.

A friend of mine recommended the hostel as it was near the university where he is at. I chose the 4 bedded room as I will be there for only 3 days and will be going out most of the time.

I stayed with 2 pre-university students and the room was extremely messy. I didn't complaint on my arrival as I was too exhausted from my earlier trip and slept right away. But whenever there's travelers from Europe or Australia arrived at the room, they will be appalled at the messiness of the room and will straight away requesting other room instead or change hostel/hotel.

However, it you are travelling in a group of 2 or 4 and getting the whole room, that would be a better option than staying with the unknown (and their messiness).

The service is average and I think those at the front desk are previously the long stayers and they were the students from the colleges/universities (ChengFu Lu has 5 universities and countless colleges along its stretch) but their service staff can be quite rude, which during the second day of my stay said that I was being given the wrong bed because they don't want to make the bed above me.

If you prefer good study environment and don't mind staying with mostly students, this hostel may suit you but if you are looking for comfort and quiet night after exploring Beijing than you'd better find other places.

Room tip: One or 2 bedded rooms with attached bathroom are better
