I was on a solo trip and unsure how the camp would be but it turned out to be beautiful. Individual tented camps with huge glass front doors and spacious balcony gives an amazing experience. Each tent has its own solar power so light and hot water is 24/7 available. Walk in bathroom and closet with huge bed is very comfortable. Staff are friendly and food is good. My suggestion: to work in ambience as well.
I loved my stay in Simba Oryx camp.

Good location near a Mara entrance.
10 free standing rooms, glass fronted, with verandas ,are nice.
Problem is the giant central block, glass fronted, 30/40 yards wide , with a Cement floor.
We ate at the scattered tables at one end; (only guests); and walked to the scattered tables at the other end, beside a fire, after dinner.
An enclosed empty car park has as much ambiance.
Food quality was possibly ok, but the chef rendered both dinners, and breakfasts inedible. It was inexcusable.
Obviously money has been spent on the camp, but the ambiance and the cooking problems have to be sorted out.

This camp was found for us by our Safari drive after checking out of the camp booked for us by the agency - which was diabolical. The Onyx was a breath of fresh air. Wonderfull tented "room" with floor to ceiling glass windows, where you woke to spectacular views of the savanna beyond. Great bathroom with walk-in shower, spacious rooms with comfortable king size bed. Clean, calm and well designed.
Food good and early breakfast no problem. Public area's reflect the whole very pleasant experience. Hope I'm lucky enough to return to this lovely oasis.

Room tip: Stay more than just one night....

This was my second trip staying at the Simba + Oryx Nature Camp in the past few years. I LOVE this place- it's beautiful and the staff is just amazing and so friendly and helpful.
Our lodge was very quiet, serene, and peaceful. The staff kept it extremely clean as well. At night you can hear the animals. At night, there are Masai men on staff to assist you to the main hotel. We met a lot of friends here and loved everyone we met. We did a 3 day safari through African Mentors Safaris- we highly recommend them as well. :)

The food was delicious- the chef was great. He was so creative and always served up amazing food.

We will be returning to Simba + Oryx! LOVELY stay. (See pictures!)

Room tip: We were in a very secluded room - #1. It was a little bit of a walk from the main hotel to our room but we loved the privacy!

This was my first trip to Mara through Bonfire adventures. The rates were very competitive. Since it was more a less a budget tour, it was a good deal. The rooms were quite good and loved the glass door which kind of gave a sense of security. Great view from the rooms. Not much variety in the meals but the food taste was quite good. Staff was friendly specially the Masai guards. Definite recommendation if you are on a limited budget.
