Nature at it's finest

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Sept 2021
Situated high above Meyuns near Koror, you have an amazing sunset view, you live with the birds and fruitbats and there is war and Palauan history all around. Rooms are natural wood with wonderful showers. Balcony views are amazing and daily breakfast is a treat. Read, relax, hike, enjoy nature.... this is the place. They also have great arrangments with Elilai, Palau's finest dining experience, and Palau Central Hotel/Canoe bar for food options and a pool to use. Richard, Abigail, Rina and Nestor were all so friendly and helpful. I have stayed here 6 times over the years and will certainly stay again.

Oh MAN.

I really enjoyed the Carolines, the experience is unmatched.

Context: I'm a local , so this is from a staycation rather than VACATION* point of view. However, I'll do my best to put in some tips for visitors!

- The view from up here in the hills of Ngerkebsang gives you a great sneak peak to the rock islands, without having to leave Koror! We were lucky enough to get Cabin 7, the second-to-highest room on the property
- Don't worry about hiking up and down, there are golf carts to get you to and from the lobby
- Smart TV was a major PLUS!!!
- Service was very personable and genuinely friendly; I also appreciate that there were some local Palauan staff. Thank you for helping out the community, Carolines Resort!

Some tips:
- Don't leave any food out on the balcony; because the cabins are wooden, you want to avoid attracting alot of insects
- There is no pool or beach on the premisis, so if you MUST swim on the days you're not scheduled for any rock island trips just head down to Palau Pacific Resort at the end of the neighborhood! If you're willing to pay the price, the day-pass to the beach and pool facilities is about $99- though I'm sure you can get that at a discounted price now.
- Tip the housekeeping!! They're nice. Be a nice fellow human. :)

Overall, I loved the Carolines experience!

Room tip: Cabin 6, 7, or 8 for the best views

Extremely impressive. We enjoyed your hospitality, Abigail, Rina and Nestor. Carolines is one of the best hotel I have visited until now. Not the normal type of hotel or resort as they dont have the usual facilities you'll find in other places like pool or jacuzzi or spa or restaurant but honestly we felt like we were really on vacation, relaxed and away from everything. Thank you. Lovely breakfast delivered to your room with a warm smile, guest room set up made us feel so home, bed, ac, ceiling fan with ac, lighting, mini bar, balcony, strong wifi, huge tv, amazing scenic view of ocean, sunrise and sunset, everything was great. Thank you, overall we love our stay.

We absolutely loved our two week-stay at the Carolines Resort.

The view from the balcony of the bungalows is of touching beauty and one of a kind in Palau. Everything is clean and neat. The bungalows are simple but very comfortable.

We would especially like to praise the staff. Abigail, Robert, Carmen, Nelson and all the others are lovely, cordial and always helpful. They made our vacation at the Carolines Resort unforgettable!

We stayed at Carolines for 4 nights in cabin 4. The rooms are clean, cool, comfortable and have excellent sunset views. The gardens are beautiful and the staff, Robert, Carmen, Nelson and all the rest are professional, kind and very helpful! We loved the breakfast service on our deck and enjoyed the coffee machine/mini fridge. The beds are super comfy and the high-tech toilet was delightful!

We stayed in no. 8 Bungalow for 7 nights. No. 8 is the last row of bungalow on the hill. This is a relatively bigger one as it could accommodate the four of us.

The driver Nelson picked us up in the airport. You need to ride a buggy to your room, otherwise you have to walk up the slope for about 5 minutes under the heat or in the dark at night. Prepare your flash light if you tend to do so. We liked the bungalow very much as we were on our own, it's quiet and peaceful every day except birds singing or roosters crowing. The room is clean, spacious with good air-con and shower facilities. They provide 3 bottles of complementary water for us daily. In the room, there is cable TV and Netflix, my young boy was crazy about the Netflix and spent much time for relaxing in front of the TV after the whole day diving.

There is a spacious balcony where we had breakfast every morning (7-10am). The staff also gave us a rack for hanging our clothes in the balcony. One could also enjoy the beautiful sunset in the room and balcony.

There is no nearby restaurant. As the resort is not located in the town centre, we had to travel to restaurants by car. The staff is always more than happy to reserve different restaurants for us daily. Some restaurants do provide free pick up and drop off. We had used the resort transportation service several times and the driver, Nelson was very nice and helpful. They charged us from 6-7 dollars per trip (one way) from the resort to the town centre or vice versa. This is quite a reasonable price to us. They mentioned that the taxi may charge you more. The most important point is also the safety in a car with a familiar driver of which we were quite comfortable to travel with.

There are some WWII remnants at the back of the hotel. We were allowed to extend our check-out time to coincide with our flight time which is a bonus.

Big thanks to the whole team: Carmen, Nelson, Nina, Abigail, Robert and Karshim
