Our group of 11 jumped out of van between showers to see Jerusalem spread out before us from the Mount of Olives. Fortunately not many other tourists were out due to the poor weather as there is not much room there.
You must make the trip up the Mount to put the city into perspective.

This was one of my favorite places. Inspirational and beautiful!! The history is remarkable. Loved riding a camel here, but hated his knees were sore. Unbelievable view of the Old City!

On the top of Mount Olive you can experience the emotions that Jesus had when he came from the Jordan Valley to Pilgerhaus to the city of god. He looked to the West and saw the Temple on Moriah Mount (now called Temple Mount). Downhill there was Gethsemane to press the Olives. He cried about the destruction of the Holy City to come and the Franciscans build later the Chapel Dominus Flevit. You can walk downhill and also see the graves of Jews buried on the Mount since ancient times.

Area completely too small for all the traffic and tourists. Offer nice view of the city. Might need to walk quite a distance.

Start at the top and walk down this historic mountain, bible in hand.
It'll change the way you read the text. And catch best possible views of the Temple Mount on the way.
