Description: Sri Lanka’s most sought after dining destination. One of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants since 2015, the restaurant is the brainchild of celebrated chef and restaurateur Dharshan Munidasa, who partnered with Sri Lankan Cricketing Legends Mahela Jayawardane and Kumar Sangakkara. Crabs range from 500g ‘Small’ crabs to 2KG ‘Crabzillas’ and the restaurant employs a daring no-freezer policy, sourcing all its produce from Sri Lanka. Enjoy oysters, clams, fresh water prawns and the famous crabs from Sri Lanka in the historic setting of the 400-year old Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, one of Colombo's most iconic landmarks.

Called one day in advance but they are fully booked. Walked in for lunch and they said they don’t serve crabs to walk-ins due to limited supply. I ordered two prawns in pepper and garlic Chili. Personally I prefer the latter. Delicious food.

Eating crab at the ministry of crab is unlike any other culinary experience. But a word of caution, please be wary of the prices, lest you break the bank.

Located inside the Old Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct is the Seafood speciality restaurant Ministry of Crab. It is owned and operated by the renowned chef Dharshan who also runs a few other elite Sri Lankan traditional and seafood restaurants. The staff, food and dining ambiance all maintain high standards. Reservations have to be made quite early (sometimes a couple of days) and the restaurant remains full of guests at any given time. Although the prices are quite high the whole dining experience offer a great deal for the amount spent.

Must visit for seafood lovers esp
crabs and prawns dishes. Avoid going in last slot as the energies of both servers and chefs are less and start appearing in their service.

Exactly what we expected. Fresh, delicious, and large crabs; a specialty of the Indian Ocean. It's a bit touristy, but we're tourists so who cares! The rose was surprisingly nice too. All in all it was a fun evening.
