Owner description: Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the first ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket. We put the welfare of our elephants first and do not offer bathing, rides, shows, mud bathing, trunk hugging, elephant kisses, sitting on or lying on the elephants, loud noisy groups, or people constantly crowding around the elephants. If you think of an elephant living life in the forest surrounded by the sounds of nature then this is what we offer. Our tours offer Education, Interaction, and Observation. Visitors enjoy an up-close encounter with our beautiful elephants during the feeding program, then we walk with the elephants, stand back and observe as they roam, bathe, play, and socialise naturally, free from human touch. We give our elephants back their lives and their dignity, and in doing so, our guests get to learn about how incredible the largest land mammal on earth truly is. We look forward to welcoming you. Morning and Afternoon visits, reservations required, transportation available.

We visited the elephant sanctuary with our 3 year-old son and we had a great time. We enjoyed learning about the mission and history of the sanctuary. The half-day tour was well structure and organized. Rain boots and umbrella were provided. Buffet lunch was delicious.

The most amazing experience!

Our guide was Nui and she was fantastic! What the PES are doing is so amazing and it’s so important to visit this ethical sanctuary as many others call themselves sanctuary but then offer rides at the end of the tour :(

PES is soooooo worth every penny, the staff are great, food is delicious and they definitely have the cleanest toilets in Thailand!

Can’t wait to return to see their brilliant work expand

PES was an amazing morning adventure in Phuket! The staff and facilities that the PES team has provided to look after and care for these elephants is amazing. You can truly see the dedication and work of the whole team to ensure the safety and happiness of all the elephants. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see elephants in their as close to natural habitat that ensures you are not going to bother their daily routines. We got to feed them, let them and watch them go swimming. At PES there are no rides or swimming with them, but at the end of the day it is for the elephant safety. I felt that each elephant they have rescued is in a better place because of this. Could not recommend more!

Being an animal lover I couldn’t wait to come and see these majestic animals and hear their stories... I left with so much more and definitely more knowledge. We will definitely be back and will be recommending our friends come and visit this beautiful place. Our day was amazing I left with a full heart and a big smile 10/10.

This was a part of our trip that we were very much looking forward to and we were not let down! We flew into Phuket and took a taxi over to the sanctuary (they will store your luggage). The afternoon tour was great, as they give you snacks before you go on your tour and then dinner afterwards (the food was amazing!!). My husband is vegan and thought he went to heaven with the food selection! We learned so much about the hardships that elephants face and how they should be living. I thought that the cost was a bit steep for the tour, but after learning how much the Sanctuary pays to rescue each elephant (and then subsequently care for them), it made sense. We got to pet one of the elephants and she seemed to really enjoy that. We also got to feed one. We really loved our time here.
