This was the first temple I got to visit in Chiang Mai, and it was awesome! There is a lot to see, loads of history, and right in the middle of town, it was beautiful! A must see in Chiang Mai!

Recently visited this temple.
Could of spent a little more time here walked around the base of the Chedi very inspiring.
Monks were walking around the grounds not sure where they were going however, lots of activity.
Great to just sit a while and take the sites in as this temple has a number of things to look at. Buildings surrounding the grounds are also very beautiful “Lanna”.
I would certainly recommend that you visit this Wat Chedi Luang as it is one of the first Wats to be build in Chiang Mai.

Always remember as a foreigner you need to wear the correct clothing especially women shoulder and knees are to be covered and also that there are area that women are not permitted to enter.

There is a fee to enter so be prepared most Wats have an entree fee these day.

One of the biggest temples in Chiang Mai, it certainly worth the visit. It's really close to Wat Phan Tao and Phra Singh (the three temples are located in the "Old Walled City" - Chiang Mai City Center). Chedi Luang is one of the most visited temples in Chiang Mai and the archtecture is quite impressive.

in the last few years there has been a large influx of visitors, mostly from china which a comercialized the site somewhat. Howver, the pagoda is stunning in its authenticity and partially restored glory. Thank the stars that the restoration was stopped sometime ago. The best time by far to visit is at night....preferably with a full moon...the experience is unearthly....the Thai ghosts come out for a visit.

A lot of Chiang Mai history. Plenty of things to see. Set aside at least 1-2 hours. A building/viharn dedicated to Luang Por Man with his molar relic is also there. All in all a must see if you visit Chiang Mai.
