Owner description: Located in the center of town, the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is not to be missed. Travelers can take in rows and rows of handicrafts, from purses to sparkling jewelry. Just make sure to watch your wallet as pickpockets abound.

The night market isn't particularly special but you can find some yummy food. If you in Chiang Mai on a Sunday then you should definitely not miss the Sunday Night Market.

Nothing spectacular, though location is good (next to Le Meridien). Lots of bargaining required, shopkeepers are mostly polite.

Even though the clientele are mostly tourists and foreigners, ALL the vendors are authentic, local, Thai sellers. You’ll find a huge range of products, trinkets, clothing, and more at great prices! Loads of good food and drink also line the street.

The night Bazaars of Thailand always get high marks and must see sort of ratings, but (perhaps) after more than 20 years in Asia I am just jaded.

IF You've never been to a night Bazaar before, then by all means go and experience it. If you don't mind wading through crowds of tourists looking at low quality crap, then by all means go and experience it. Almost everything is poor quality and although realatively cheap -- over priced.

The Chiang Mai night bazaar is a good place to pick up some inexpensive souvenirs for friends back home or to get your "designer inspired" handbags and watches. It's conveniently located near all the touristy, western style restaurants etc. Anusarn market located just off the main street has some fantastic local artisans.

But if you're looking for a more authentic experience, check out the Saturday market in San Patong. Head straight south about 30 min.on the 108 (the highway that runs north/ south alongside Central Plaza mall). Its only open till noon but holds hundreds of stalls selling local fare. You'll find fresh espresso, honey, and excellent food. Handcrafted clothing by the local Hmong people. Hats, bags, shoes, the list goes on and on! Definitely worth the 20 baht song taew ride. You can catch the yellow song taews running south near the mall. Ask for the "talad wuwa tii San Patong." (Originally the local cattle market. )
