The location is great just in the centre of the old town, hotel is not too big but far from 5* level, service is not in a high level, rooms are noisy and not top clean, the pool is nice but not very clean.

Dear Noam W,

Greetings from Tamarind Village. Thank you for your feedback. Whilst we were glad to read you appreciate our central location at the heart of the old town, we were sorry to know that you did not find the service or the cleanliness up to your expectations. We normally receive very good feedback on both of these points.so we are a little bit surprised and have to apologize if you did not have a positive impression.

Your comments have been shared with the management team so that they can see what they might do to improve in these areas in the future.

We wish you all the best.

Kind regards,

Claudine T.

This lovely hotel is tucked away down a lane in the heart of the old city. A couple of tamarind-colored flags signal the entry from a busy street. There are 30 or so rooms in traditional northern thai style around quiet gardens, a pool, a very fine restaurant that serves northern thai cuisine in beautiful surroundings, there's a boutique that showcases some excellent local wares, and every Sunday evening, the street outside the entry is closed off for a particularly good night market that accounted for quite a bit of spending on my part. Silver jewelry set with semi-precious jewels, nicely wrought, a nice antique ceramic teapot chased with silver, fair prices for buyer and seller, and a feast for the camera.

We highly recommend Tamarind Village, especially for the staff, who offer every assistance.

Room Tip: Ground floor on the courtyard of the tamarind tree

I liked this hotel alot mostly because of their great service, serene ambience, and traditional activities that gives it a very homely feeling. I absolutely enjoyed the morning walk to the temples and the afternoon flower garland making class under the 200 year old tamarind tree in the courtyard. The hotel staff is very friendly especially Kanchana and the lady who first greeted us (I forgot her name sadly). The only downsides were the wiifi was spotty, there is no mirror in the standard room other than in the bathroom, and our toilet had some issues early on (they were however fast in fixing it). Breakfast was good. Not amazing but good. Overall I'll give it a 4 out of 5.

We spend 3 nights here in November as part of our Thailand trip. Lovely location, central for pretty much everything but without the noise of the riverside.
Very friendly staff who made us feel home and were very helpful. The only thing I missed is having a window with a view. It overlooked a wall, which was a shame. But then again we could have asked for a room on the top floor or with a balcony.
All in all it's a great base to explore the city.

Hadn't been to Chiang Mai in several years so I decided to stop there for four days on my way to Luang Prabang. The hotel was by far the best thing about that stop. The location was perfect and the grounds beautiful and peaceful. My room had everything you would want, including a small balcony overlooking the beautiful yard, wifi, flat screen TV, fresh fruit, views, and tranquility. They have also a beautiful outdoor pool, and a good spa. Breakfast was great, with both Thai and western options, but most of all, I loved the service. Everyone I had contact with was very helpful and cheerful.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the pool and breakfast area are quieter.
