We just came back from Bangkok. Stayed in Sam's Lodge in Sukhumvit Soi 19 in Bangkok for 5 nights. It's located near BTS Asok Station and the MRT. We got off the station, led to the exit where Terminal 21 is. The alley between Terminal 21 and Westin Hotel is the street where Sam's Lodge is located. There's a Tops Supermarket in the basement of Robinson's which runs for 24 hours. The entrance of the lodge is in a small alley. Reception is on the second floor. Nats, the lady receptionist is very friendly. She has been a great help in locating places where we want to go. She speaks good english. She always see to it that our needs are met. Another staff, Chai is also very helpful. We appreciate both of them. Our room is located in the third floor. I expected a small room but it's not. Ample space to keep our luggages. But there's no closet though which is not a big deal. It's very clean and being cleaned every time we're out. When we complained about the toilet not functioning well in the morning, it was fixed mid day when we came back. Very efficient. Will stay here the next time we're in Bangkok. Highly recommended for the location, staff, accessibility and places to go near the hotel. Very very convenient. Five thumbs up!

This hotel is conveniently located in Sukhumvit Soi 19, and is owned by the same guys as Smart Suites (in Sukhumvit Soi 11), so you can expect, and will receive, the same kind of friendly service.
By way of comparison to Smart Suites, it's a tad more dated.
Having said that, the rooms are quite comfortable with ducted air con and ceiling fans, and the bathrooms are spacious.
They just need to update those old CRT TV's ;)
It's a good place for a budget stay in a boutique hotel... you'll find the entrance in the Moo to the right of Ambassador & Smart Fashions (the hotel is on top of the shop) and can take a lift to all floors. Reception is on level 2.
The view from the roof is spectacular! As a smoker I ventured up there a number of times. Much nicer than the view from the roof at Smart Suites.
If you're in Bangkok for ladies of negotiable affection, Soi Cowboy is located really nearby.
If you prefer a bit of shopping, it's also really close by Terminal 21, which is a typical Western multi-storey shopping mall complete with cafes and food courts.
The metro is just down the road also.
I personally found the hustle and bustle Soi 11 more fun and prefer Smart Suites, but everyone has their own tastes and curiosities, so this place might be right up your alley.

Sam's Lodge is a pretty basic accommodation but what makes it stand out of other properties is the location. Walking distance to:
7 Eleven Store
Terminal 21 Mall
BTS Asok
Sukhumvit MRT

We checked in at the hotel at 11:45 as our flight was delayed, still there was no issue check-in. Just scanned the passport(they actually asked for the embarkation card) and we got our keys.

If you are arriving here by BTS, watchout for the lane where Westin Grand is located and walk around 100 meters, towards the right you will find a lane(looks like residential lane) and there's a big board of Sam's Lodge. Few massage parlours around but they were closed when we arrived.

Taxi stand is just at the entry of the lane.

The reception is at the second floor.

You may also goto 4th floor to enjoy rooftop view. However the flush is non-functional in the restroom at top floor.

Room is very basic, airconditioned accomodation, LED TV, towels and toiletries are provided.

Height of the shower is only till my shoulder I am 5 ft 8".

Pro-tip:

You may contact the hotel staff in advance for tips to book local tours. Unfortunately when we reached all the tours were closed so we missed the early morning floating market tour next day.

Just walk to BTS Asok and take 140 baht full day unlimited pass to explore Bangkok on your own. Grand Palace, famous temples and flower market can easily be explored on foot with combination of BTS and Boat transportation.

Don Muang Airport to Hotel Grab Taxi fare was 328 baht but the driver was generous enough to charge only 300 baht. Online taxi pickups charge upto 1000 baht.

If the staff weren't so nice, and the location was not so ideal, this would have been a very average hotel. This is ideal for transit. Couple of days right in the heart of Sukhumvit, with everything that you can imagine and need at arms length. The rooms are not very big, but did have a coffee facility that more or less does for me. For the price, peaceful, friendly and ideally located place.
