Owner description: The backpacking district of Khao San Road is the traveler hub of South East Asia. Jam-packed with raucous bars and restaurants as well as budget hostels, it’s a favorite for late-night revelers.

It depends on your expectations. This was my second time in Bangkok, but my first time Khaosan Road experience. It is in an old part of Bangkok city, where you can also find China town, Wat Pho and Wat Arun (cross the river). Khaosan road reminded me of Walking street in Pattaya. Similar atmosphere, locals trying to persuade you for visiting a ping pong show or even more decadent experiences. Lot of bars and restaurants, loud music, street food, street vendors from Myanmar, etc. For me it was OK to visit once and see but I dont need to do it again. I think this place also changed a lot in years according to what I saw on youtube or on the pictures. The wibe is different.

Very good place for songkran party. However you can't see the authentic Bangkok in this place. Kao sand Road is destiny to Backpackers.

I'm appreciated my friends to take me there first time, it is so surprising with people, restaurants, foods etc. Thai people are super nice and kindness to tell or recommend best thing for you. Most of them are friendly. I would love street foods so much especially pad thai. On this street is served many of activities to do such as massage on foots, hair, dance, game etc. I'm sure you will enjoin all till you might forget time to go back the hotel.

"Khaosan" translates as "milled rice", a reminder that in former times the street was a major Bangkok rice market. In the last 20 years, however, Khaosan Road has developed into a world-famous "backpacker ghetto

Best souvenir to buy here is the custom made passport covers that are 100 bhat its the end of the markets if you start from where the burger king is. Besides that the place is great for shopping, street food and massage.
There is amazing vegetarian restaurant close by called May Kaidee. Great food for reasonable prices.
