Wanted to mix in a bit of culture & Kamthieng House was the perfect fit. The guide was quite nice and took her time pointing out the many interesting aspects of Lanna Lifestyle way back when. Just a short walk from the BTS but best to keep the map at hand as it is easy to miss.

First of all note that the map on TA indicates this house is just beside the Nana subway stop- it is not, it is just a few meters from the Asok stop( but find the right Asok exit) I took a taxi here. It is about a 3 min walk to the major intersection of Asok and Sukhumvit Rd.
The house is a teak house that was moved here from Chang Mai. Lots of panels in well written English explain many of the Lanna peoples traditions, from courtship and marriage to the rice harvest. Houses were passed down through the female line to the youngest daughter. A nominal 100 baht entrance fee. It has a very different feel than the JIm Thompson House. If you have lots of time in Bangkok stop here.

This is truly a gem as intact Lanna houses are rare in Thailand. An excellent thing to see after visiting the Lanna Museum in Chiang Mai which does not have such a building on site. Cost is 100 baht. One hour will do it. This is the only museum at the Siam Society (open Tues-Saturday 9a-5p); the SS building has a small bookstore and library (need permission to use). Also has speaker series on Thursday evening and offers tours to different place in Thailand.
Only negative at the museum was the loud, distracting music from a wedding going on during my visit. Hard to hear the audios of traditional music within the house itself. Try not to go on Saturdays!

Located behind Emquartier mall. Small but nice museum/reconstructed house that gives you an example of life in a traditional Lanna house. Worth checking it out for 60 minutes at only 100 baht. Bring bug spray. The only bites we got in BKK were here.
