The Dream Bangkok is a couple hundred meters off Sukhumvit Road, at the corner of Soi 15 and Soi Ruam Chai, and a quick walk to Sukhumvit, the Nana BTS stop, and Asok Road. It's a quiet haven for the tourist who wants to be close to the action, but not necessarily drowning in it!
I'm in a 'classic' (deluxe) room with king bed, freshly renovated and superbly comfortable. My only problem is the writing desk, which is way too high for me to be comfortable using my computer. The room is compact, but well laid out, and yes with Phil S, the bar fridge is well stocked.
The staff are very courteous, but not all of them speak enough English to help all that much. The breakfast buffet is stellar, with good-old-American foods like pancakes, bacon, cereals and made-to-order omelets next to local delights such as stir-fried pork with ginger, curries, Hindi puri bread and rice.
I'm going to Pattaya tomorrow for a week's diving and other delights, then I'll return to this hotel for the last few days of my Thailand vacation. I can't imagine a better place for the price, certainly not in this district.More
