We had the tasting menu which was a good overview of Thai Cuisine. Curries were excellent and well balanced, and the appetisers were very refined. Service is quite good, and our server was very attentive. A nice night out and while it does have good food I understand why it has lost a few places in the Asia50 best list.

Nahm Restaurant, in Sathorn, the restaurant at Metropolitan Hotel in Bangkok, is just fantastic. We've had wonderful meal, a dinner set menu in which we could try all courses of that wonderful food. Dinner set is supposed to be shared by the family, typical Thai tradition, and we were supposed to do the same. However, I'm allergic to seafood, and then came something great: besides the wonderful atmosphere, great service and delicious food, the chef opened an exception for me and I had my personal dinner set, different from my friends'… And they took so much care that even the fish salt which would be used was different in my case. Well, so they came: so many small dishes with beautiful presentation and great flavor – each plate was an exquisite experience (I don't know about the seafood, but my friends have assured me it was as great as mine). We have also had a wonderful Australian shiraz wine... And, last but not least, Nat, the great waiter who gave us one of the nicest services ever, yeah, because he even had to tell us how to eat that food… lol… He's also the barman and in our next visit he's going to fix us great cocktails too! Anyway, there goes a big 10 for Nahm. Thank you very much and we do promise to get back there when we are back to BKK. And, yes, it has the right to bear the title of one of the best restaurants in Asia...

We were on holiday in Bangkok and wanted to try the best restaurant in town, but I wish we hadn't bothered. The food is over-rated and overpriced. I like spice but all the flavours were too much and we left feeling quite ill (I nearly vomited in the bathroom on the way out). We spent as much on lunch at Nahm as what we had spent in three days in Bangkok, eating much yummier and fresher food. I regularly eat at high-end restaurants and honestly, Nahm is not worth it at all.

Looking at the high rating, we visited with high expectations.
Good service, but the ambiance was poor (voice echo, and mediocre interior) and food that was far from okay. It looked good, but that was about it.
Many amazing places in Bangkok, i have no idea why people like this place.

...and I desperately wanted to love it. I am a huge fan of Asian cuisine and particularly Vietnamese, Thai, and Indian food. It saddens me to write that I've had tastier and more complexly flavorful Thai food on the street for pennies---and definitely better in any of a number of restaurants in Bangkok and Phuket. The price Nahm charges simply is not justified in my opinion.
There is nothing negative that I can say about the food, per se. It is tasty and well presented, and the physical restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. But I guarantee that if I were to blindfold you and fed you with two identical dishes--one prepared in Nahm and the other from a random street vendor, you would choose the street vendor's version every time.
I'm a bit disappointed leaving this review but it is the truth.
In short---go if you want to eat in a posh, aesthetically pleasing place but bring your baht and plan on leaving them all there!
