The Druk is a great choice offering comfortable rooms and a nice restaurant.
Rooms are very modern in style but in keeping with Bhutanese designs.
Tip : Try to dine a la carte if you can, as the food is better than the buffet.

The Druk Hotel is on the Main Street of Thimpu, Bhutan's capital and largest city. Started in 1985, the thirty five room hotel has been renovated to reflect different themes of earth, water, fire and sky on each floor. Spacious bathrooms allow you to chose from a tiled walk in shower or a charming claw footed tub. Hardwood floors complement the wood framed doors. My room was large, with a small couch, desk and sitting area. An alcove hid the safe and provided a bench to store your suitcase. There is a small exercise room, and massages are available in the spa. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and offers a mix of Asian and Western dishes. My only complaint is the cacophony of barking dogs at night.....there are hundreds of stray dogs on the street, and they will start barking in disharmony at all times of the night. If possible, ask for a room that does not look out in the street. Otherwise, pack your earplugs.

The Druk has everything you'll ned for a short- to intermediate-length stay in Thimphu. The only beef I had before has now been rectified with the gym equipment arriving. Food in the restaurant is excellent and there is plenty of variation, the staff is extremely service-minded and you feel almost as a friend rather than guest.
The location is also really good - close to everything that matters in Thimphu to the point possible.
The only problem with the Druk is something it shares with every house in the town - there are, at a minimum, 40 howling dogs outside your window every night! Bring ear plugs (and understand that this is nothing you can escape in Thimphu!

Room Tip: The answers on noise level ONLY refers to dogs at night (every hotel in Thimphu has this problem), otherwise the Druk isnice and quiet.

Well managed hotel with reasonable restaurant in very good location for seeing the local sights and for just walking around the town. rooms are large and good wifi. Expect the street dogs to serenade you to sleep with their constant barking!!!

Room Tip: Barking street dogs will keep you awake wherever your room!!!

Special thanks to Mr. Dilu who helped us made our room availability easy as we traveled from India via road .Ours was one of the best suite's,with the complimentary treats on the eve of Bhutanese New Year. Great experience in the awesome country .
