The price was great (even during a football weekend). All of the staff members we encountered were VERY polite, personable, and helpful (front desk, wake up call, cleaning staff, etc..). We will definitely stay here again!

Spent our wedding night there 40 years ago then again last weekend on our anniversary. Great staff and good clean hotel. I recommend the Honeymoon package: Champagne, Chocolate covered Strawberries and a Rose left in your room all for a very good price.
We were apprehensive when we saw the rate for a room, that this would be a nice hotel. We were over the top pleased! What good value for the price! The location was quiet, being a little further from the interstate. The staff was super friendly, from the front desk to the restaurant hostess and waiters. It is beautifully decorated. But the best was the cleanliness! We appreciated how the bed was made up, with careful detail to how the fresh linens were put on, if you understand what I mean. Everything was spotless! We will definitely stay again!
Overpriced for what you get! This hotel needs serious updates in order to charge the prices they do! It was nice to have a restaurant and bar on site but if you don’t like the food channel don’t plan on sitting at the bar and watching a game the bartender isn’t keen on changing the channel. Stairwell smelled like dirty diapers and is needed to get to some of the rooms.

We were visiting Ames fora wedding. The hotel was booked for us. Not mowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. It an older building, but has been well maintained. Rooms are spacious, but not what I would call big. Couple of critiques. There was no plugins near the coffee maker. & the windows didn’t look like they had been cleaned on the out side for a while. ( but I hadn’t planned on sitting in my room all day & looking out of the window) The outside door, that was supposed to lock at night, so you were supposed to use your room key to access the hotel didn’t lock. Those aside I would stay here again.
Hotel is old and tired. Needs updating. Bugs crawling across the lobby. Hot tub working but clearly had not been cleaned in quite some time. Room was not cleaned well. Service in Iowa Stater restaurant was poor. On a positive note, the staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful.
