Hotel is old and tired. Needs updating. Bugs crawling across the lobby. Hot tub working but clearly had not been cleaned in quite some time. Room was not cleaned well. Service in Iowa Stater restaurant was poor. On a positive note, the staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful.

I booked this hotel on Expedia mostly because it had a hot tub. However when we went to use the hot tub, it was drained and had caution tape around it. This was very frustrating, as I paid to have a working hot tub. I went to the front desk and asked for a partial refund, and we denied due to booking through a third party. The did offer to let me use the Best Western's hot tub across the street. Yeah, like I want to drive over there, soak, leave wet, and drive back in wet clothes back to my hotel.. I understand that sometimes there are mechanical failures can happen, but maybe make a little more effort to have fixed--especially before an event like Family Weekend at Iowa State. Also, our room was right next to the elevator on the 2nd floor, and the bar is on the 2nd floor so we could hear loud, drunk people all night.

The hotel is showing its age. needs updated. The room smells musty. Beds clean. Bath top stopper does not seal for a bath. The water was leaking out. Nice hot water. Hallways noisy. The guide on Remote did not work.
