This posting is NOT referring the sign by the Cruise Port, which is effectively known as the "Belize WELCOME Sign" (which is near the Baron Bliss Lighthouse). The BELIZE SIGN MONUMENT is actually not in the downtown area. It is about a 10-15 minute ride away from the cruise port (which might run you quite a bit in USD in a cab if you are not driving yourself). I actually found this while checking Google Maps to look for the sign which I had seen in a number of photos, to then discover that there are two. This first official sign is located in the Seashore Promenade area, in a small park. Our cab driver was actually surprised that we knew about this sign since most tourists typically go to the WELCOME sign. Photos are included and you can see the differences - this particular sign is flush with the ground, vs the WELCOME sign which is on a platform. The official sign is in a quieter, residential area, so you are less likely to have to fight to get a clear picture (although the WELCOME sign is pretty open on non-cruise days, no one was there when we visited). Overall, either sign is fine for a photo if you're looking for a photo with the beautifully colored letters.
