I had a lovely breakfast here - iced black coffee and and English muffin with scrambled eggs. It's a great cosy place - order and pay at the counter.

Ate breakfast here ''tis morning. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. The baked good were fresh and tasty. spoonaz has a counter here you order your food. The food is delivered to your table. Would recommend eating here. We ate inside but they had a large deck overlooking the river where you can eat.

This is a nice place to have a beer on the back patio but the food wasn't fresh. You could see the the food in the case but basically they just heat it up. For that I thought it was expensive. $3.50 US for an English muffin with one slice of processed cheese and mystery meat.

You know , before you make assumptions about the food not being fresh you need to talk to Staff or management if you have any concerns so they can inform you of how our food is prepared instead of writing this post and giving everyone the wrong impression.

We have two display cabinets, one is a cooler, the other a dry cabinet. All our foods are prepared daily and are fresh. We warm certain foods, samosas, meat pies, sausage rolls, croussants because they are better eaten hot or warm, would you like to eat these cold?! And they are not heated by a microwave, they are heated in a convection oven. You made the assumption because you saw them in the Cabinet and we had to heat them , because we do this you assume these were not fresh, every customer has the option to get their food "heated in the oven" or as is, which would be "room temperature". The english muffins are made on the spot with either egg, egg & cheese, cheese & ham, egg & bacon, or egg, bacon & cheese. If you think that is expensive, you can head on over to San Pedro, Belize, and get the same thing for $7.00 US.By the way, the "mystery meat" you mentioned, it is smoked ham, locally made.

I object to this "review" because an assumption was made that because the foods warmed up , it is not fresh!!! Totally false at Spoonaz, food sheared up at your request.

Jeremy Spooner

This place is definitely a trap for tourists trying to find a bite to eat. It is located near the tourism village/ports and designed like an american restaurant for a reason! Most of the food isnt even made in house. I ordered chicken samosas, but recieved the wrong ones. My plain iced tea was foggy for some reason as well. About 2 hours after i ate i ended up getting sick. The staff was pretty unconcerned with the customers happiness while dining in. Dont reccommend this place at all.

Just to comment on your observations:

1] Spoonaz is not a Tourist Trap, it is patronized mostly by locals, and Tourists who stop in are charged the same price as locals. Sorry, I emphatically disagree with you.

2] Designed like an "American Restaurant" ??!! Would that be North, Central or South America? What does an American Restaurant look like? I just know I designed it and used warm and rustic materials and colors to give it a wonderful ambiance. If anything, being a Coffee Shop and Belize being a former British Colony,I would say it is more European looking inside with an old original Colonial exterior look which I did not alter, only restored.

3] The majority of our foods are made in house, do not know how you came to the conclusion that "most of the food isn't made in house". However we do support the local bakeries and sell some of their items. Is that a problem?

4] I apologize for you getting the wrong samosa .....which one did they give you by mistake? We only sell three types, chicken, potato and jalapeno with cream cheese. The chicken & potato look very similar, its a first, thanks for letting me know, I will check into this tomorrow. They are very spicy as they are a curry made by a very popular Indian Chef in Belize. we have never had any problems with his samosas, in fact never had a complaint of anyone being sick after eating at Spoonaz. These are very popular and sell fast so they are not stored for days before selling, and they are always freshly made, very important to me.

5] I will check on the tea, you are right, the ice tea should not be "cloudy" . Did you bring it to managements attention?

6] I apologize if my staff did not give you the service you are accustomed to, I am surprised to hear this as we always get many compliments on our staff . You have made me realize I need to have labels with my Staff's name on it so Customers can identify who is not giving service to Spoonaz standards. I am sorry about your experience with my staff.

That you for taking the time to do your review, sorry it was not positive but I shall speak to my staff about your concerns.

Regards,

Jeremy Spooner

Out of nearly everything. No pulled pork, chicken, or panini's. settled for 2 samosas and a chili cheese dog. The chili cheese dog was ice cold (just out of the fridge?). Ended up with a warm coffee and a take out scone. Staff was no help. Total BZE 41.49 - paid the bill just to get away from a terrible experience.
