Yes, that is a strong title for a review, but this is how I feel. I came to Belize on business and seeing that we were going to have some sort of transportation to and from downtown, we decided to rent a car. The only vendor opened after 5:00PM, I decided to give them a try.
The go over the car as if it was a brand new 2018 Ferrari. The car was a 2007 that had over 159000 miles on it! I pointed out a damage on the plastic trim and the guy that was going over said that he had marked the entire quarter panel meaning that all of it was covered as damaged. I said ok and went on my merry way. When I returned the car, a different person went over the car and said I had damaged this same piece of trim! I showed him the paper that showed the damage and he said that that was not included, that the area should had been circled. I said that the guy had made these lines to refer to the whole side panel, but he was not giving up.
Feeling like a hostage and about to miss my flight, I relinquished and asked him to go ahead an finish the transaction. The guy behind the counter now starts shopping on the phone for the part! The car looked like a 10 year old rental that has not been taken care of and he is worried for a little piece of plastic trim! He found the piece that was 88.00 and added 45.00 for installation, plus tax and shipping! Total came to 200.00 additional for a piece of plastic that will most certainly no get replaced...nor did I damage!
Do yourself a favor and steer FAR FAR away from this company.

AQ was great. We didn't have any problems with the car. We picked it up in Belize city and drove to San Ignacio and then down to Placencia to drop it off. Ameena was great and responded quickly to all emails and was very accommodating when an issue arised and we had to rebook the trip the following month. We didn't lose money which was appreciated. We dropped the car off in Placencia to Saleem with no issues and just friendly people.
Dear customer,

Used a credit card to hold the car, frauded weeks later. After getting a new credit card and used to pay for the car once in Belize, the man at the counter wondered why my card numbers did not match the one on the account. I explained why, and he said, "Oh! you're like the fourth person this has happened to!" Seeming more interested than worried. Then he mentioned that the previous customers he spoke with mentioned the thief was trying to buy things in Ohio, which is where my card was being charged.
Other than going through credit card fraud, the company was great.

Rent a midsize SUV for a few days. A Saturn SUV showed up with 180+miles. Spent quite a while to inspect and document dings and chips as you can imagine how many there are on a car like this,. The AQ guy also told me to ignore the engine light if it comes up because of carburetor (or catalytic converter, I forgot which one he said) :) Fortunately, the light never went up during my trip. Their price is good though.
About the gas, you return the car at the gas level when you get the car. So it can be anywhere in the gas dial. In my case, it was 1/4 full, and I returned it with 1/2 full. With Belize gas price (~US $5/gal), that effectively added ~$15 to the rental cost.
One of the traffic rules in Belize is that the car behind you has the right of way. What does that mean? When the car behind wants to go straight, and you want to make a left turn but cannot due to incoming traffic, you need to pull over to the right and let the car behind you go first. You may think this is risky to do if there is another lane on your right side. I don't think I have ever seen a road with more than 1 lane in each direction during my travel.
Dear customer,
Thank you for taking the time out to review our services. We appreciate having you with us and hope to see you again in the future.
Highly recommended. Great customer service, good price, 4x4 had very good tyres which you need for Belize roads, could have been a more fuel efficient engine though.

I rent cars all the time in the US so maybe my expectations were a little high. You be the judge. When we arrived, there was a long wait to get the car. We finally got a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with 260,000 miles on it. Almost everything was broken. The passenger door panel was hanging loose, the overhead lights cracked, the plastic pulled out of the door by the handle, rear air didn't work, engine light repeatedly on and there was a noise that sounded like the transmission was going out. The car was filthy inside and out. Despite all of that, that wasn't my main concern. My main concern is that it wasn't reliable and we could be left out in the middle of nowhere without cell service. We had a flat tire on the third day. Expecting help, we called the office. They said it was our responsibility to have it repaired so we wasted the afternoon getting it repaired instead of site-seeing. Here's the rub - the representative said that even though we bought insurance, if something breaks while we have the car there is $1000 deductible. In other words, it breaks, you just bought them a new whatever. I know that the transmission is going out on that car and it is just a matter of time before the renter that has it at that time will have to buy them a new transmission at a cost of at least $1000 on top of the rental fee. I would rather have paid more and gotten a nicer, more reliable car but who would have thought they would rent a car with 260,000 miles on it and expect the renter to pay for the repairs. Go elsewhere.
