Very efficient people. Work on schedule. Was safe. Took all luggage without any added cost.. Few restaurant and shops near by to get lunch or breakfast.

On our way to Caye Caulker Dec.28th. We got a taxi from the airport to the water taxi terminal. We had only carry on luggage for our trip, our bags were never out of our sight.
We arrived at the water taxi terminal and had just missed the last boat. The standard procedure is to check your bags, get a ticket, and wait for the boat. The bags are stowed in the hold of the boat out of our sight. The bags are then unloaded at Caye Caulker and collected by passengers.
When we unpacked at our destination, the camera was gone. By process of elimination, the camera was taken by a somebody, when our luggage was out of our sight and in the care of San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi.
Ultimately It's my fault for leaving it there etc. I do know better. I wanted to wait until we came to home (to check that I didn't leave it at home) before I wrote this, - I didn't.
Since we bought return tickets, we used the same service again, leaving Caye Caulker. Being all sneaky, I made a note of where I placed the zippers on our bags. When we arrived at Belize City and collected our bags, the zippers had been moved, to my dismay my laundry was still there! Maybe somebody opened the bags? (likely) or maybe the zippers moved in transit? (unlikely).
I write this as a warning and a reminder to others (and myself as well), rather than a complaint. There are other ways to get to the Cayes, I'm not saying don't use this service, but they have somebody on staff who is going through and stealing from passengers luggage, so, please beware.
The service otherwise was fine.

We made it to our destination of San Pedro and back in one piece. For that, they get two stars. Service is good.

However, safety is very questionable. Life vests were tied together in a corner completely unreachable because so many people were crammed in to one right space. Emergency exits? Unfortunately, that's what you're primarily thinking about during this 90 minute ride because it's so choppy and tightly crammed, but there are almost none to be found.

See my photo? That head sticking in is an employee looking to see how many more people can squeeze in!

Do yourself a favor and FLY!

The Belize water taxi baggage handlers should not be trusted! The handlers stole my Gopro camera right out of my bag which they force you to leave with them prior to boarding the taxi. Also, our taxi as delayed over 40 minutes due to a boat failure which caused me to almost miss my flight out of the country. They did not have another boat on stand by and the passengers had to wait until the next taxi full of people came into the harbor.

All in all, Do not trust the handlers and plan for a bunch of extra time!

The boat ride is more like the tender or shuttle service you'd expect between a cruise ship and the shore. It's fast and breezy. My trips were crowded, and on windy days with choppy seas, it's a bit bumpy for anyone who gets seasick easily. Personally I enjoyed the "speedboat-type" ride but it wouldn't have been a fun leisurely experience for my elderly grandparents. Despite the bumps, infants in mothers' arms slept the whole way. Buy round trip ticket to save money over two one-ways.
