We really enjoyed our 10 day stay here at Spring break. We had the top floor of a two story building and it was spacious with plenty of room for hanging out. We didn't cook, but it had and a small kitchenette with mini fridge and hot plate. Portofino is right on the beach and the pool is nicely maintained and just steps away. My son and husband went snorkling twice and said it was the best they have ever seen! They saw every type of fish, corral and sea life that you can imagine! The hotel has a boat and staff member that you can arrange snorkling trips with for a reasonable charge...plus it is just ten minutes to this amazing reef. If you are looking for a lot of nightlife, this may not be the place for you. Things were quiet most nights with people heading to their rooms if the bar was closed early. It was about a 30 minute golf cart ride into San Pedro and along the way there are many restaurants and bars. I wasn't warned that the roads about half way to the hotel change from paved to dirt and there are very big and frequent pot holes. It makes for a rough ride...especially at night as lighting is minimal once you are out of town. Don't miss out on a delicious meal at the hotel; the hotel restaurant is very good. It is a small restaurant, so make a reservation. The bar sometimes is open late and sometimes closes pretty early (depending on the demand). There are always pool chairs available and massages can be arranged beach side. Breakfast was really tasty and certain items on the menu are included in the price of the room. I wish they would consider investing in a good espresso machine and some nice, live music at night would add to the relaxing atmosphere of the bar. The staff was all very friendly and service was excellent. Great stay! Thank you, Portofino!More
