We just returned from a week at Portofino Beach Resort. We flew to Atlanta and then on to Belize City. We took a small plane to San Pedro via Tropic Air and it was an incredibly smooth transfer. Upon arrival in San Pedro, the resort arranged for a taxi to a local dock (Fido"s) for our water taxi to Portofino. We were warmly greeted by Matthew on the dock and escorted to the lobby where a lovely drink awaited us.
Matthew personally took us to our beautiful cabana directly on the beach. The room and view were gorgeous! We spent many hours just relaxing on the porch (hammock included!).
The wait staff and bartenders were all fantastic. The food was awesome and we never got bored with the menu. We purchased the meal and beverage package. We had breakfast and dinner daily and local beverages (mixed drinks, beer, and after dinner drinks included - wine and champagne not included)
We did venture into San Pedro via golf cart one rainy day. It is quite the adventure with many pot holes to dodge, but it was fun. In San Pedro, we took the recommendation of Portofino staff and had lunch at Elvi's Kitchen - complete with sand floor. We had the snapper with garlic butter and chipolte sauce - to die for!
My husband had 5 wonderful scuba dive adventures with the dive master directly on the Portofino dock. Most days, we had the pool completely to ourselves!
We typically have gone to large all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, but have found the quality to have gone way down hill. We grew tired of the noise, poor food and beverage and masses of people at all inclusives.
If you are looking for a wild party atmosphere, this is not the place for you. If you want quiet, relaxation, gorgeous ocean views and excellent customer service, book Portofino!
Thanks to all of the staff for their fantastic service! We will be back!
