Arden + Bardeo is closing after February 25. It is to be replaced by a new concept restaurant. Bindaas is to remain open during the transition. The restaurant had been a Cleveland Park mainstay for 20 years.

The food at Ardeo/Bardeo is quite good, but the wines by the glass were very disappointing and should be improved. We tried three different red wines and two had strong after tastes (carignane and cabernet sauvignon). The pinot was better and drinkable. The restaurant can be on the noisy side with families at brunch or in the evenings. The range of food on the menu is adequate and the portions are decent. In the dim lighting in the evenings it can be difficult to tell exactly what is in a dish you are eating.

Thanksgiving dinner for two at two.
We enjoyed a wonderfully prepared prix fixe dinner. The Turkey was the most tender I’ve had in ages. The salmon entree was amazing. The only reason it is not a five star rating was that we seemed a little rushed even though it was not too busy. I was still chewing my main when my plate was cleared. I plan to be back soon.

Sometimes I'm skeptical about reviews but this met expectations. It was delightful inside and out. At first it was a bit loud for conversations bit the son died down over the course of the evening. If you can get a table on the roof upstairs it is lovely!

If you plan a trip to Washington, DC and love fine food, get thee to the Ardeo restaurant in the Cleveland Park neighborhood (you can take the Metro to the Cleveland Park station, a convenient two stops from DuPont Circle).
Ashok Bajaj is the distinguished owner of the Knightsbridge Restaurant Group, having owned many award winning restaurants around the world. In DC, Mr. Bajaj's restaurants include Ardeo, Bibiana Osteria Enoteca, Bindaas, The Bombay Club, the 701 Pennsylvania Avenue Restaurant, The Oval Room restaurant, Rasika and Rasika West End.
All of these restaurants offer superb dining experiences.

For tonight, we want to share that Ardeo has totally changed its menu. The chef has kept crowd favorites such as the baby beet salad, served with heirloom beets of many colors and hand prepared fresh mozzarella cheese; Deviled eggs; and roasted Brussels sprouts. He has expanded the seafood offerings including sublime soft shell crabs (hurry, they have a short season); mussels with green curry; Shrimp and clam fettuccine with a coconut lobster "nage"; and Striped Bass with Dukkah, romesco sauce, puey lentils, and sugar snap peas.
All of the aforementioned dishes were exquisite.
Check out bar master Mariah's unique cocktails that are made with wonderful tinctures of lavender, cucumber, mint and delicious bitters.
We finished the meal by sharing the Brown Butter Cake with Caramel sauce, whipped cream, and vanilla bean gelato. Outrageous!
Our server, Colletta, was superb in meeting our every request.
