My husband and I took the train from Riga and spent the day in Sigulda. We saw Hotel Pils from the bus and decided to look at the menu.
There were several options without being overwhelming. I had the grey peas with ham/bacon pieces and meatball soup which also had carrots, bacon/ham, and rice in a broth topped with dill, both Latvian dishes. I liked putting the Latvian grey peas in the leftover broth. My husband had the Boss pork which was topped with bacon/ham, cheese, and dill. All dishes were tasty.
For drinks I had the house red wine and he had a Latvian Metzpils beer, both were good.
Our total bill was around $20 euros including tip.
Service was excellent, Janis spoke some English which was helpful. I speak very little Latvian, but try. We visited other places in Sigulda and experienced other employees being unpleasant to us. Janis was welcoming and we appreciated that very much.
