We stayed for two nights at this hotel during a city break to Riga. The hotel is an easy 20 minute taxi trip from the airport and is very well located within the old city. It is directly opposite a large shopping centre and surrounded by some very good shops and restaurants.

The room was a good size and very clean with basis facilities (no tea or coffee making facilities and no slippers provided). The beds were fairly hard.

I was disappointed with the breakfast offering. Service was extremely slow and the plates were not clean. I had to sift through the pile of plates until I found one which was clean enough and didn't have a smell to it. There wasn't a good offering of breads or pastries and they seemed old and dry. I would have rather eaten breakfast elsewhere.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay but I would really only book this hotel again for the great location and would take a room only option to avoid breakfast!

Recently we stayed in suite 702 at the Old City Boutique Hotel for 12 nights & I must comment on a few things:
• The 7th floor has no elevator access. One has to use a very narrow spiral staircase.
• Our suite (one of two on 7th floor) has a nice layout. Small living area with views of “old-Riga”, nice bathroom with tub/shower, and bedroom with closet & storage. A/C only in bedroom.
• Typical European breakfast was included. Many items shown on their website were missing & other items were just okay. No wow factor because most hot items (eggs, bacon, etc) were cold because staff does not understand the setup of how to keep them warm.
• Overall hotel staff service was poor. If you questioned them, they did not have an answer or took the time to find an answer. It’s “not my job” attitude! Also Russian was their primary language & only 2-3 managers spoke & understood Latvian or English. Most staff is very young and could use some training in customer service.
• On site restaurant is closed and no info if it’s to reopen.
• Bar is available but sometimes closes early depending on staff availability.
• Location of hotel is a big plus. Many tourist sights & restaurants within a short walk.
Overall I’m not sure if I would choose to stay here again. Many other 4* or 5* hotels available.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the new section.

Only would give us one key but then found out they were short on keys and they gave us a second key. Mini bar didn't work so everything warm in it. No housekeeping on one day. Towels very old and rough. Kept putting a sign out to say terminal down and you had to pay cash. Internet worked fine. Breakfast very poor quality. Sausages were hot dogs. No coffee or kettle in room. Even the cheapest of hotels have that. Only coffee in breakfast room for three hours so if you wanted a coffee before 7;30 can't get at hotel. No bottles of water either. Room not very clean and beds really hard. I would stay here with caution.

Room Tip: Wouldn't stay here.

I recently spent several days in Riga. This hotel is in a great location to see everything. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very good. The only downside was that my first night, there was a tremendous amount of street noise! I sleep pretty easily, but it was very loud with lots of partiers, singing all through the night. I did ask for a change of rooms and they were happy to accommodate me (fortunately, they had a quiet room available). All in all, a good choice for a stay in Riga.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street

Not sure where to start, gonna make this short because it will only piss me off to write down everything and make my day S´´´ whit a Big S.
Had to change room because it was dirty, dust and dirt on floor and cloth cabin, bath room, hair and spot of old guest in sink and shower.

Broken mini bar, it so loud in this hotel, that when the room next door farts you wake up.
They could only give us one key? Something was broke, shocking, 80 % of hotel is..
Asked for one umbrella, and the first they said before yes was we will charge you 10 € if you don't bring it back, ehh ok, thanks for the hospitality.

The bathroom have a poster saying that they are eco friendly etc, but when you leave your towels on the floor you expect that they change them, since they are not hanging on the button, but NO,they just hanged them back up on the buttons. Had to call down for them to change them.. Empty for soap in shower, did not change that either.

Breakfast terrible, and i am simple on food, but one ham and one cheese, water downed juices and coffee?? Empty for "fried" eggs, and bacon or whatever it was. Yea nothing like the picture on there home page..

The reception counter is so tall that the employers are hiding behind there so you don't see them, what a joke, came back after being out for dinner and the whole reception is dark and look closed and not much welcome looking..

Hotel is just to simpel to call them self a 4 and half star hotel, more like hostel then hotel..
Would not recommend this place, there are much more hotels in this neighbourhood for better prices and customer service, do not spend your money on this place, its a joke!
Riga is beautiful, this hotel will piss you off if you have some standers on life...
