In Winter has a particular appeal, snowwflakes are not annoying, and even the paved roads - so difficult to walk- are nice.
The Cathedral is worth a visit!!

This is a wonderful looking building in a large open square, we planned having a good look around but on the day of our visit the temperature was -11 so it was freezing inside so we decided to retreat to a local bar for something warm to drink.

We visited the evening organ concert with different organists (most of them feminine) played pieces of different styles, permitting to explore wonderful possibilities of this organ, also very beautiful. The dome itself is very impressive from outside, but minimalistic inside.

If you go to Riga, you will probably walk right by this beautiful cathedral. It dominates Dom Square which during the Holidays was home to a very nice Christmas market. We opted to pay the 3 € charge for entry. If you are there at 12pm, you can enjoy a 30 minute organ recital and judging from the size of the organ, this should be quite an experience. Otherwise, you can walk both the inside and the outside where the cloisters are. Worth a short visit.
